National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) JRF Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

The National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) has invited applications for 2 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) posts in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. These posts are part of a research project titled "AI-guided Smart Point-of-Care Device for Early Detection of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Rural and Urban Areas", funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under the Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant (PMECRG) program. NIT Warangal is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This is a 3-year temporary research role, and the selected fellow can also register for a Ph.D. degree at NIT Warangal. It is a strong opening for engineers who want hands-on work in artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and edge computing.

The project aims to build a low-cost, portable device that can spot acute lymphoblastic leukemia (a type of blood cancer) at an early stage, so that patients in both villages and cities can start treatment on time. As a JRF, you will work where healthcare meets artificial intelligence, and you will get to publish papers, file patents, and grow into a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) role over the three years. This post suits recent M.Tech graduates in electronics who want to build a serious research career.

Who Can Apply?

You need the right engineering degrees along with good marks to apply for this JRF post. Read the points below and check that your branch and marks match before you apply.

• Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (or Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent) and M.Tech/M.E. in ECE or an equivalent branch.
• Marks: A minimum of 60% or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG level for General/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
• Alternative route: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology with at least 7.5 CGPA or 70% marks (General/EWS/OBC-NCL) or 7.0 CGPA or 65% (SC/ST/PwD).
• Research areas: Your background should be in Embedded and Machine Learning Systems, Signal and Image Processing, VLSI System Design, Artificial Intelligence, or Computer Vision.

Preferred Skills (not mandatory)

• Knowledge of Image Processing, Computer Vision, Medical Image Processing, and Edge-AI.
• Hands-on programming experience with Python or MATLAB.
• Publications or patents in Medical Image Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or Deep Learning.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 30 years.
• Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxed by up to 5 years for SC, ST, OBC, women, and persons with disabilities.

Salary

Your monthly pay depends on whether you have cleared a National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC NET or GATE).

• With NET/GATE: Rs. 37,000 + HRA per month in the 1st and 2nd year, rising to Rs. 42,000 + HRA in the 3rd year after upgrade to Senior Research Fellow (SRF).
• Without NET/GATE: Rs. 30,000 + HRA per month in the 1st and 2nd year, rising to Rs. 33,000 + HRA in the 3rd year.
• You will also get HRA as per institute rules, along with on-campus hostel and mess facilities subject to availability.

Duration and Other Benefits

• The fellowship runs for 3 years and is purely temporary.
• The selected fellow can register for a Ph.D. at NIT Warangal as per institute rules once the Ph.D. advertisement is open.
• This is a full-time Research and Development role on a live, nationally funded project.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test for this post. Selection is done in these steps:

1. Shortlisting: Applications are screened based on your qualifications, marks, and research background.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview, which may be held online or offline. Keep a good internet connection ready if the interview is online. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
