National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) has released a notification to hire one Junior Research Fellow for a research project titled "Towards Sustainable Reservoir Management in the Krishna River Basin: Experimental and Numerical Evaluation of Jet-Induced Sediment Removal Technologies". The project is funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under advertisement number CED/LM/ECRG-RS-36029/JRF. This is a strong opening for Civil Engineering postgraduates who want hands-on research work in experimental hydraulics and Computational Fluid Dynamics.

The position runs for a maximum of 3 years or until the project ends, whichever comes first. A big plus is that the selected candidate can register for a Ph.D. degree at NIT Warangal as per institute rules, so this role works well if you want to build a research career while you earn a monthly fellowship.

Who Can Apply?

You can apply if you meet any one of these qualification routes:

• Route 1: B.Tech/B.E. in Civil Engineering AND M.Tech/M.E. in Water Resources Engineering, with First Class — 60% or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG level (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates).
• Route 2: B.Tech/B.E. in Civil Engineering with at least 7.5 CGPA or 70% marks (7.0 CGPA or 65% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

A GATE score is not mandatory for this post. Preference will go to candidates who have qualified GATE, UGC, CSIR, INSPIRE, or NET, or who have prior experience in experimental hydraulics, open channel flow, reservoir sedimentation, or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).

Age Limit

• You should be up to 30 years old (GEN/GEN-EWS) as on the notification date, 03 July 2026.
• OBC-NCL: up to 33 years.
• SC/ST/PwD/Female candidates: up to 35 years.

Salary

• You will get a monthly fellowship of Rs. 37,000 for the first 2 years and Rs. 42,000 for the third year.
• You will also get HRA as per NIT Warangal rules. On-campus hostel and mess facilities are available, subject to availability.

Selection Process

The selection is based on an interview:

1. Shortlisting: Eligible candidates are shortlisted based on their application and qualifications.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates attend an interview, which may be held online or offline. The list of eligible candidates is announced on the NIT Warangal website and shared by email or phone.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
