IIMB Academic Associate Decision Sciences Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), an Institute of National Importance under the IIM Act of 2017, is hiring an Academic Associate for its Decision Sciences Area. You will be based at the IIM Bangalore–Dorabji Tata School of Undergraduate Studies in Jigani, Bengaluru, and report to the Chairperson of the Decision Sciences Area.
IIMB describes this as a post for people with strong academic records who plan to do a doctorate later and want a career in teaching and research. You work alongside faculty on their courses and research, which gives you a close look at academic life before you apply to a PhD programme.
The opening is wider than a pure statistics role: besides a Master's in Statistics or Operations Research, IIMB will consider related fields such as Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing, and also an MBA or equivalent PGDM from a reputed business school.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: The engagement starts for one year and can be extended up to a maximum of three years. It is a fixed-term post, not a regular faculty job.
- Stipend: The monthly stipend is all-inclusive, and where you land in the range depends on your experience.
- Extra duties: Besides research and teaching support, you will help with the institute's proctoring duties when assigned.
- Work location: The job is at the Jigani campus of IIMB's undergraduate school, not the main Bannerghatta Road campus.

Responsibilities
- Provide research support to Decision Sciences Area faculty based on their needs
- Assist faculty with teaching work, including course material and classroom support
- Help faculty with every stage of their academic research projects
- Support the institute's proctoring duties when assigned
- Handle other academic assignments given from time to time
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Master's degree in Statistics or Operations Research or a closely related field (Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Scientific Computing, etc.); an MBA or PGDM equivalent to a master's degree from a reputed business school will also be considered.
Preferred Qualification
Excellent academic credentials with a long-term interest in pursuing a doctoral programme and engaging in teaching and research.
