National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal), an institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released Recruitment Advertisement No. 02/2026 dated 8 July 2026 for the post of Deputy Director. This is a senior administrative leadership role at the Institute, and the appointment will be made from amongst NIT Warangal's own senior faculty members based on the recommendation of a duly constituted Selection Committee, in accordance with Statute 23(5)(a) of the NIT Statutes. This position is open only to serving Professors of NIT Warangal — it is not open to external or general candidates. NIT Warangal, located in Warangal, Telangana, is one of the oldest and most reputed National Institutes of Technology in India, known for its strong engineering, sciences, and management programs. The Deputy Director is typically the second-highest administrative authority at the Institute, working closely with the Director on academic, financial, and day-to-day administrative matters. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be a serving Professor at NIT Warangal with a minimum of 5 years of experience as Professor. Only the Institute's own regular faculty members are eligible — this is not an open external post.
• Administrative Experience: You should have adequate administrative experience, preferably having served as Head of Department (HoD) or Dean for at least 2 years. This experience shows the Selection Committee that you understand how academic departments and institute-level bodies function on a day-to-day basis.
• Academic Record: You should have made significant contributions in academics, administration, research, institutional development, and outreach activities — this can include teaching, guiding research scholars, industry collaborations, and extension work — and be recognised as an eminent academician with an outstanding academic record throughout your career.
• Note: Other terms and conditions apply as specified in the NIT Act and Statutes.
• Note: Since this appointment is made under Statute 23(5)(a), the process follows the Institute's own internal governance framework rather than a public advertisement-based hiring process used for regular faculty or staff posts.

Selection Process

The appointment will be finalized in the following way:

1. Screening by Selection Committee: A duly constituted Selection Committee of the Institute will review applications as per Statute 23(5)(a) of the NIT Statutes, checking each applicant against the minimum experience and administrative eligibility criteria.
2. Interview/Interaction: Candidates recommended by the committee are appointed based on their academic, administrative and research record.
3. Final Appointment: The recommendation of the Selection Committee is processed further as per the Institute's statutory approval process before the appointment is confirmed.

• Support the Director in overall academic and administrative management of the Institute
• Oversee day-to-day administrative functions across departments and sections
• Guide institutional development, research, and outreach initiatives
• Represent the Institute on committees and statutory bodies as required
• Coordinate with Heads of Departments and Deans on policy implementation
• Monitor compliance with the NIT Act, Statutes, and government regulations
• Handle administrative matters and decision-making in the Director's absence
