ACTREC Research Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), the research and treatment campus of the Tata Memorial Centre at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, needs a Research Associate for a cancer-biology project. ACTREC is a grant-in-aid institute of the Department of Atomic Energy, and this post is paid from a grant given by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT).

The project is titled "LCN2 functions required for invasion, ferroptosis and therapy resistance" and runs under the guidance of Dr. Sorab Dalal, the Principal Investigator. In simple terms, the lab studies how the LCN2 protein helps cancer cells spread, escape a form of cell death called ferroptosis, and resist treatment. This is a project post filled through a walk-in interview, not a regular ACTREC appointment.

The post suits a fresh PhD in the life sciences or a medical or dental postgraduate who already has a first-author paper and wants to build a lab career. ACTREC says it wants someone who is keen to grow an independent research programme, not just run experiments for others.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Short tenure: The appointment is for five months from the date you join, or until the project ends, whichever comes first.
• Extension on performance: Your work will be reviewed regularly, and any extension depends on satisfactory progress.
• Publication record: You must have at least one first-author paper published or accepted in a peer-reviewed journal; co-author papers alone do not meet this condition.
• Lab skills expected: The notice looks for hands-on experience in standard molecular biology methods, mass spectrometry and animal handling.
• Consolidated pay: The salary is a fixed consolidated amount, so do not expect separate allowances on top of it.
