CSB JRF and Project Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Central Silk Board (CSB), which works under the Ministry of Textiles, is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and a Project Assistant (PA) on contract at its Central Office in Bengaluru. Both people will work for the RCS Section on the research project "Value Chain Analysis and Efficiency Mapping of Mulberry Silk in India" (MTL 13004 MIC), which looks at how mulberry silk moves from farm to market and where that chain loses value.

Selection is through a walk-in interview, so there is no online form to fill. The roles suit agriculture and agribusiness graduates who want hands-on research experience in the silk sector. CSB will judge you on your qualification, experience and interview performance against what the project needs.

Posts and Disciplines

• Junior Research Fellow: the research post on the project, open to postgraduates in agribusiness management, agricultural marketing and co-operation, agricultural economics or agricultural extension. Holding GATE or NET lifts the fellowship to the higher of the two rates in the notice.
• Project Assistant: the support post, open to full-time B.Sc. graduates in Agriculture, Agri Business or Sericulture. A PG Diploma in Sericulture on top of the B.Sc. gets you the higher pay rate.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: Both posts are purely temporary and end with the project — up to October 2027 or the project's completion, whichever comes first.
• No claim to a CSB job: Working on this project gives you no right to any other post in CSB later.
• HRA: The JRF gets HRA only if accommodation is not provided; the Project Assistant's pay is consolidated with no HRA.
• Provisional degrees: You can attend with a provisional degree certificate if you bring photocopies of all your mark sheets.
• Travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Canvassing: Any canvassing leads to cancellation of your candidature; the decision of the Director (Tech.) or the competent authority is final.
