CSB Sericulture Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Central Silk Board (CSB), a statutory body set up by an Act of Parliament in 1948 under the Ministry of Textiles, is hiring Sericulture Assistants on contract for its Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSR&TI), Berhampore and the units under it. The posts are in the pre-cocoon sector, the silkworm-rearing and seed side of silk production.

The openings are spread across three places in the east and north-east: the main institute at Berhampore, West Bengal, the Regional Extension Centre (REC) at Mangaldoi, Assam, and the REC at Shillong, Meghalaya. Selection depends only on a personal interview, so a graduate in sericulture, agriculture, forestry or the life sciences with some hands-on silkworm work has a fair shot.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Purely contractual: The engagement is initially for not more than one year and gives no right to regularisation, absorption, continuation or any permanent or temporary appointment in CSB.
• Not a project post: You will not be tied to a specific project. You will assist the Senior Technical Assistants in the work of the CSB institute or unit where you are placed.
• Posting preference: You can name three preferred locations, but CSB fixes the final posting on merit, vacancy position and administrative needs.
• Eligibility cut-off: The detailed advertisement fixes 30 September 2026 as the date for judging age, qualification and other conditions.
• Vacancies can change: The number of posts may go up or down as the Board needs, and CSB can cancel or modify the engagement for any post.
• Interview at your own cost: No TA, DA, lodging or boarding is paid for attending the interview.
