ISTC Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

India Ship Technology Centre (ISTC), a Section 8 company under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is building a multi-disciplinary team at its Kochi campus. The notice covers senior maritime engineering leadership, ship-design and R&D work, training, information technology, finance and human resources. Every role is contractual and tied to ISTC's work as a national centre for ship technology.

The technical roles focus on shipbuilding and maritime systems, while the finance, IT and HR roles provide the operational backbone needed for the centre's programmes.

Posts and Disciplines

• Engineering Manager: senior leadership for ship-design, shipyard and maritime R&D projects, with responsibility for a section or department.
• Lead Engineer R&D: large commercial or defence shipbuilding research and development, supported by knowledge of classification-society rules.
• Manager Training and Skill Development: maritime training, skilling and capacity-building programmes for technical professionals.
• Assistant Manager Technical: naval architecture, marine, mechanical, electrical and electronics work connected with ship design, repair, ports and engineering organisations.
• Assistant Manager Information Technology: servers, storage, networks, systems, hardware, software and connectivity, with ship-design software exposure valued.
• Executive Finance: budgeting, costing, banking, taxation, accounts, audit, procurement concurrence and finance compliance.
• Executive HR and Administration: modern HR systems, personnel administration and day-to-day administrative functions.

Post-wise Duties

Engineering Manager and Lead Engineer R&D

You will guide complex maritime engineering and research work, coordinate technical teams and keep projects aligned with commercial or defence shipbuilding needs. Senior roles also need strong stakeholder communication and strategic planning.

Training and Technical Management

You will develop skills and capacity-building programmes or support ship-design and engineering assignments using appropriate software, classification rules and modern vessel technologies. The exact technical stream depends on the post selected in your form.

Information Technology, Finance and HR

You will run the core support systems that keep ISTC operational. This includes reliable digital infrastructure, sound accounts and compliance, or responsive personnel and administrative processes.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Each post carries a five-year contract, with a possible further extension based on organisational need and individual performance.
• Workplace: All selected candidates will work at ISTC in Kochi.
• Experience proof: Experience is counted only after the prescribed qualification. Certificates must show dates and the nature of duties performed.
• Comparable background: Applicants from private organisations or contract rolls in public bodies must show CTC evidence comparable with the immediate lower pay level where the notice asks for it.
• Certificate and fitness checks: Your candidature remains provisional until original documents and medical fitness are accepted.
• Travel: ISTC will not pay TA or DA for attending the selection process.
• Rank list: The organisation may operate the result list for later openings during its stated validity, subject to approval and project requirements.
• Workplace policy: Selected candidates must undertake to follow ISTC's smartphone-use policy at work.
