SCTIMST Project Research Scientist I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology, is hiring a Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) at its Biomedical Technology (BMT) Wing in Poojappura. The post is part of an ICMR-funded project (P.8286), so it is a contractual project position, not a regular institute post, and selection happens through a walk-in interview.

The project is building an off-the-shelf injectable hydrogel loaded with exosomes from platelet-induced mesenchymal stem cells to heal chronic diabetic wounds. You will spend most of your time at the lab bench, planning and running experiments and pulling the data together for the team.

The role suits postgraduates in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Life Sciences, including integrated PG degree holders. Hands-on cell culture and molecular biology skills matter here, and a Ph.D gives you an edge.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Reserved post: The existing vacancy is reserved for SC candidates. If no eligible SC candidate is found, OBC candidates are considered, and after that, UR candidates.
• Tenure: The post runs initially up to 13 September 2027 and is likely to be extended up to 13 September 2030, in line with the project.
• Experience rule: Only experience gained after your essential qualification counts.
• Caste certificates: SC and OBC (non-creamy layer) certificates must be in the Central Government format, issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.
• Already employed: Bring a No Objection Certificate from your present employer to the interview.
• Travel costs: No TA or DA is paid for attending the interview.
