V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), the major port at Thoothukudi (Tuticorin) in Tamil Nadu, is filling officer and translator posts through direct recruitment on a regular basis. The drive covers the port's traffic, finance and electrical wings along with its official-language work, so graduates, CA/CMA candidates, electrical engineers and Hindi-English language graduates all have something to look at.

Most of the officer posts are reserved — both Accounts Officer grades are earmarked for SC candidates and the Assistant Engineer (Electrical) post for an ST candidate, while the Assistant Traffic Manager and Hindi Translator posts are unreserved. Posts and Disciplines

• Assistant Traffic Manager Gr.I: a traffic-side officer post open to any graduate; executive experience in shipping, cargo operations or railway transportation is preferred.
• Accounts Officer Gr.I: the senior finance post, meant for members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India; reserved for SC.
• Accounts Officer Gr.II: the entry-level finance post for graduates who have cleared the CA or CMA Intermediate; the degree can be regular or through correspondence, and a CA/CMA Final pass is a plus. Reserved for SC.
• Assistant Engineer (Electrical): for Electrical, Electronics, EEE or ECE engineers — degree holders need some experience in a large electrical establishment, diploma holders need much longer experience; reserved for ST.
• Hindi Translator: a Class III language post for Master's holders with Hindi and English at degree level, or bachelor's holders with a translation diploma or translation experience in government offices; this is the only post with no interview.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Numbers can change: The port may vary or interchange the discipline-wise vacancies at any stage, and it may decide not to select anyone in a discipline.
• Qualification cut-off: Your final result, degree or membership and experience must be in hand by the registration closing date; qualifications must come from UGC-recognised universities or AICTE-approved institutes.
• Category is locked: You cannot change your category after registration, and results are processed only in the category you choose.
• PwBD suitability: Each post is identified for specific benchmark disabilities; candidates using a scribe get 20 minutes extra per hour of the test.
• Medical fitness: Selected candidates must pass a medical examination at the Port Hospital before appointment; failing it cancels the selection.
• Serving employees: Government and PSU staff must show a No Objection Certificate at verification and an unconditional relieving letter at joining.
• Travel support: SC/ST candidates called for interview get second-class rail or bus fare by the shortest route.
• Service rules: Selected staff follow the VOCPA Service Regulations, and any legal dispute can be filed only in Tuticorin courts.
