IISER TVM JRF Mathematics Recruitment 2026

IISER TVM JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM) wants a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a pure mathematics project called "Diophantine approximation with prime restriction". The project is funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), and the hiring is handled by the institute's Office of the Dean, Research Development and Consultancies.

This is a contract position that lives and ends with the project, not a permanent post at the institute. The work sits in number theory, and the team clearly leans towards people who have already studied algebraic number theory. If you have just finished a strong Master's in Mathematics and want to move into research, this is a solid first step.

IISER TVM was set up by the Government of India in 2008 to mix science teaching with research. Its campus is at Maruthamala, Vithura, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and that is where you will be based.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Funding agency rules: Your appointment follows the terms that ANRF has set for this specific project and post.
• Tenure: You start with one year. It can be stretched to two years or more, depending on how well you perform.
• Project-linked job: The appointment is purely temporary and ends on its own when the research project closes, with no notice or compensation.
• No absorption: You get no right to a permanent job at IISER TVM or with the funding agency, during or after the project.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview. If many people apply, a selection committee shortlists using qualifications and experience above the minimum.
• Recognised degree: Your qualifying degree must come from a recognised university or institution.
• Travel costs: No TA or DA is paid for coming to the interview.
• Joining: If selected, you are expected to join as early as possible after you get the offer letter.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online portal for this post. You apply by email to jyothsnaa.s@iisertvm.ac.in. Put all your documents into one PDF file named JRF_yourname, and use JRF_ANRF as the subject line.

List every relevant qualification and bit of experience in your application, because the committee shortlists on what you show beyond the minimum. Interview details are sent only by email to shortlisted candidates, so check your inbox and spam folder often. If you are selected, keep a signed and dated printout of the application you emailed ready to hand in.
