CDB Driver Grade I and II Recruitment 2026: Overview

Coconut Development Board (CDB), which runs its head office from Kera Bhavan in Kochi, wants experienced Staff Car Drivers to join it on deputation. This is not an open recruitment for freshers — only drivers already working on a regular basis in a government or public body can apply. If you drive a staff car for a central or state department, a university, a recognised research institute, a public sector undertaking, or a semi-government, statutory or autonomous body, and you want a fresh posting for a few years, this circular is meant for you.

Because it is a deputation call, your own office forwards your application and you return to your parent cadre once the term ends. The Board has also said that the number of posts may change, so keep an eye on the CDB website for updates.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Driver Grade I: the senior driver grade. It suits drivers who already hold an equivalent post in their parent department, or who have put in several years of regular service in the driver grade just below it.
  • Driver Grade II: the junior deputation grade. It is open to drivers holding an equivalent post, or to those with long regular service in the lower driver grade of their parent office.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Deputation term: you stay a member of your parent cadre and come to CDB for a fixed spell, ordinarily not more than three years. Any deputation you held in another ex-cadre post just before this one counts towards the same limit.
  • Pay option: you can either keep your present basic pay and draw a deputation (duty) allowance on top, or have your pay fixed in the scale of the CDB post, as per the DoPT rules on deputation pay.
  • Trade test: selection for both grades depends on clearing a trade test of the standard set by the Central Government.
  • Clean record: your employer must certify that no vigilance or disciplinary case is pending or planned against you, and that you have not received any major or minor penalty in the last 10 years of service.
  • Immediate release: only drivers whose office can relieve them immediately if they are selected should apply.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online form. Fill the bio-data proforma (Annexure-I) attached to the circular, make three copies, and send them through your own department (proper channel) to The Chief Executive Officer, Coconut Development Board, Kera Bhavan, SRV Road, Kochi – 682 011.

Your forwarding office must fill the employer certificate at the end of the proforma. The application has to reach Kochi within 60 days of the day the advertisement appears in the Employment News — late or incomplete applications, or ones without the attested APARs and clearance certificates, are not considered.

If you are already on deputation somewhere else, your parent cadre must forward your application along with a cadre clearance, vigilance clearance and integrity certificate.
