DTU Professor and Associate Professor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Delhi Technological University (DTU), the Delhi Government university that grew out of the old Delhi College of Engineering, is hiring Professors and Associate Professors by direct recruitment under Advertisement No. 05/2026. The drive also clears backlog vacancies and runs as a special drive for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Almost every opening is at the Associate Professor level, spread over engineering, sciences, management, economics and design; the Professor posts are only in Mathematics and Computing. These are regular faculty positions, so this drive suits PhD holders with solid teaching, research or industry experience and a strong publication record. Shortlisting runs on a points system built on the UGC Regulations of 18 July 2018, so your academic record, papers, projects, patents and PhD guidance all add to your score.

Posts and Disciplines

• Professor – Mathematics and Computing: the only Professor-level openings, including a seat identified as suitable for PwBD candidates.
• Computer Science and Engineering: the biggest block of Associate Professor posts, with seats identified for PwBD candidates.
• Information Technology and Software Engineering: Associate Professor posts in the two computing departments beside CSE.
• Mathematics and Computing, Applied Mathematics: posts for mathematicians and computing specialists.
• Electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering: core engineering posts, each with a PwBD-identified seat.
• Mechanical, Production and Automobile Engineering: posts across the mechanical group of departments.
• Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology: Biotechnology is open to both engineering and non-engineering backgrounds.
• Applied Physics and Engineering Physics: science faculty posts.
• Management and Economics (USME): posts at the University School of Management and Entrepreneurship on the East Delhi Campus.
• Delhi School of Management: a management faculty post in DTU's business school.
• Design: Associate Professor posts governed by a separate set of recruitment rules.
• Humanities (Economics/English): a post in the humanities department.

Design and Management follow their own recruitment rules; every other Associate Professor discipline uses DTU's common rules for the post. Check Annexure-I to see which benchmark disabilities are identified for each PwBD seat.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Provisional numbers: DTU can change the number of posts as per its needs.
• OBC means OBC (NCL-Delhi): Only castes notified as OBC by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi get the benefit. OBC candidates from outside Delhi and creamy-layer candidates must apply as Unreserved.
• Fee concession only on reserved posts: The lower fee for EWS/SC/ST and the PwBD exemption apply only if you apply against a post reserved for your category.
• No edits after submission: Once the online form is in, you cannot change any field, including your category.
• PwBD reservation is horizontal: It cuts across all categories, and unfilled PwBD posts are carried forward at university level.
• In person at every stage: Biometrics are captured at document verification, presentation and interview, and checked again at joining. No online verification, presentation or interview is allowed.
• Government employees: Apply through proper channel. If you are now in a private job but claim past regular government service, attach a no-vigilance/disciplinary-case certificate from that office.
• What counts: Only papers published by the online closing date are assessed. Experience counts from the day you became eligible, needs at least 11 months' commitment a year, and full-time PhD years do not count as research experience.
• No TA/DA is paid for any stage, and disputes fall under the courts of Delhi.

Application Submission Notes

Submit one online application per discipline; if you want more than one discipline, file a separate form and fee for each. Fill Annexure-II, your self-assessed academic and research score, before you start the online form.

After applying online, send the printed form and Annexure-II, signed on every page, with self-attested documents and the fee receipt in one sealed envelope to The Recruitment Cell, Room No. 818, 8th Floor, AB-3 Block, Delhi Technological University, Shahbad Daulatpur, Bawana Road, Delhi – 110042. Mark the envelope "Application for the post of [Name of the Post] in the discipline of [Name of the Discipline]". If the hard copy does not arrive in time, your online application is not processed.
