DTU Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Delhi Technological University (DTU), the former Delhi College of Engineering set up under a Government of NCT of Delhi Act, is hiring Assistant Professors by direct recruitment under Advertisement No. 04/2026. The drive covers 24 disciplines across engineering, applied sciences, management, design, economics and humanities.

This round also clears backlog vacancies and runs a special drive for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). These are regular faculty posts at the main campus on Bawana Road and, for Economics (USME), at the East Delhi Campus.

Shortlisting is score-based: your Ph.D., your pre-Ph.D. degree marks and a NET, GATE or CEED qualification decide whether you move ahead. Fill the online scoring table carefully — the portal auto-processes what you enter, and any claim without a supporting document counts as zero.

Posts and Disciplines

• Engineering: Civil, Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Chemical, Environmental Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology and Software Engineering. Computer Science and Engineering is the largest single block in this advertisement.
• Applied Sciences: Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics and Computing, Applied Physics and Engineering Physics.
• Management and Economics: Management at the Delhi School of Management (DSM), Economics at the University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME), and Humanities (Economics).
• Humanities (English) and Design: small faculty openings for language teaching and the design programmes.
• Biotechnology: open to engineering and non-engineering backgrounds as set out in the Recruitment Rules.
• Geospatial Science and Geospatial Technology: these posts are currently borrowed from the sanctioned strength of other disciplines, so regularisation of the people selected follows only after the posts are created and sanctioned.
• PwBD-identified posts: twelve disciplines carry posts identified for specific benchmark disabilities. Check Annexure-I of the advertisement to see which disability categories suit your discipline.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Recruitment Rules: the pay scale, essential qualifications, relevant branches and experience for each discipline are in the Recruitment Rules linked in Annexure-II. Read your discipline's rules before you apply.
• Cut-off date: your qualification, experience and category status are judged as on the closing date and time of the online form.
• OBC reservation: only OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates whose community is notified by the Government of NCT of Delhi get the OBC quota. OBC candidates from outside Delhi and creamy-layer candidates must apply as Unreserved.
• Fee concession: the lower EWS, SC and ST fee applies only when you apply against a post reserved for your category.
• Experience scoring: guest-faculty years do not count. Only regular or contractual teaching, management-level industry work or R&D work with at least 11 months of commitment a year is scored, and any stint under six months is ignored.
• Publications: only papers actually published by the closing date count; accepted, in-press or under-review papers are not scored.
• Foreign degrees: you need an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• Serving employees: staff of government departments, autonomous bodies and universities must apply through proper channel.
• Biometrics: your biometric data is captured at each stage and matched at joining, so you must attend every stage in person.
• Vacancies: the numbers are provisional and DTU can change them as per its needs.
• Travel and disputes: no TA/DA is paid for any stage, and disputes fall under courts and tribunals in Delhi.

Application Submission Notes

You apply online only through the DTU website, and each discipline needs a separate application with its own fee. Filing two forms for the same discipline can get all of them rejected, and no edits are allowed after you submit — not even a category change.

A hard copy is needed only if DTU places you in the consideration zone. Then send the signed printout with self-attested documents in one sealed envelope to The Recruitment Cell, Room No. 818, 8th Floor, AB-3 Block, Delhi Technological University, Shahbad Daulatpur, Bawana Road, Delhi 110042, marked "Application for the post of [Name of the Post] in the discipline of [Name of the Discipline]". DTU will announce the deadline for this envelope on its website.
