HBTU Faculty Recruitment 2026: Overview

Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur is filling regular Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor posts across its engineering, technology, science and humanities departments, plus an Assistant Workshop Superintendent post on the administrative side. Every post is a regular appointment at the Kanpur campus in Uttar Pradesh, not a contract or guest role.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Future vacancies: The Paint Technology Assistant Professor post falls vacant on 1 December 2026, one Mathematics Assistant Professor post on 1 January 2027, the Electronics Engineering Assistant Professor post on 1 March 2027 and the Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor post on 1 August 2027.
• Reservation: Vertical and horizontal reservation follows Uttar Pradesh Government norms; SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) and EWS certificates must be in the U.P. Government format.
• Indicative posts: The university can withdraw any post, leave it unfilled, or raise or cut the number of posts.
• Foreign Ph.D.: You need an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, unless you earned the degree under an MHRD foreign scholarship nomination.
• Serving employees: If you already have a job, apply through proper channel.
• Cut-off for experience: Your qualifications and experience count as on the last date of the online form.
• Service terms: Service conditions and retirement age follow university and U.P. State Government norms.

Teaching posts are applied for on the Samarth recruitment portal (hbturec.samarth.edu.in), while the Assistant Workshop Superintendent form sits on a separate non-teaching Samarth portal (hbtunt.samarth.edu.in). Register on the right portal before you start.

• One form per post: if you apply for more than one position, submit a separate application and pay a separate fee for each.
• Upload everything online: all certificates, documents and sanction orders go up with the form; an incomplete form or one without the fee is rejected.
