VOCPA Visiting Pediatrician Recruitment 2026: Overview

V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), the major port at Tuticorin (Thoothukudi), Tamil Nadu under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, wants a Visiting Consultant Specialist in Pediatrics for its Port Hospital. This is a part-time, contract engagement — you visit the hospital or the port dispensary once a week and are paid for each visit, so it fits alongside an existing practice or hospital job.

The Port Hospital is a 62-bed facility that runs both outpatient and inpatient care. Your young patients will be the children of serving port employees and of CISF personnel posted at the port, along with other dependents covered by the hospital's medical scheme.

Selection is through a walk-in interview held in the Chief Medical Officer's chamber at the port, after you send your certificates in advance.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of engagement: Contract basis for periodic duty — this is not a regular port post and carries no fixed monthly salary.
• Visit schedule: One visit per week to the Port Hospital or Port Dispensary, as the hospital needs.
• Pay basis: You are paid a fixed amount per visit, so your earnings depend on the number of visits you make.
• Experience source: Post-MD pediatric experience counts from a government hospital, a public sector hospital or a private hospital — private practice in a hospital setting is accepted.
• Age: You must be below 65 years of age.

Then attend the walk-in interview on 3 November 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Chamber of the Chief Medical Officer, VOCPA. Carry all your original certificates for verification.

• Visit the Port Hospital or Port Dispensary once a week for pediatric consultation
• Examine and treat children of port employees, CISF personnel and other covered dependents
• Review child patients admitted in the inpatient wards during your visit
• Advise the hospital's medical officers on pediatric cases and referrals
• Record diagnosis and treatment notes for each child you see
