VOCPA Visiting Gynaecologist Recruitment 2026: Overview

V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), the major port at Tuticorin (Thoothukudi), Tamil Nadu under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is looking for a Visiting Consultant Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. It is a part-time, contract engagement for periodic duty — you visit the Port Hospital or the port dispensary twice a week and are paid for each visit.

The Port Hospital has 62 beds and handles both outpatient and inpatient treatment. You will look after women patients from the port community — serving and retired port employees, their spouses and dependents, and families of CISF personnel guarding the port.

Selection happens at a walk-in interview in the Chief Medical Officer's chamber, after you send your documents ahead of time.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of engagement: Contract basis for periodic duty — not a regular port post, and there is no fixed monthly salary.
• Visit schedule: Two visits per week to the Port Hospital or Port Dispensary.
• Pay basis: A fixed amount for each visit, so your monthly earnings follow the number of visits.
• Experience source: Your post-MD/MS experience as a Gynaecologist can be from a government, public sector or private hospital.
• Age: You must be below 65 years of age.

Then come for the walk-in interview on 3 November 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Chamber of the Chief Medical Officer, VOCPA. Bring all your original certificates with you.

• Visit the Port Hospital or Port Dispensary twice a week for gynaecology consultation
• Examine and treat women patients from port employee and CISF families
• Review gynaecology patients admitted in the hospital wards during your visit
• Advise the hospital's medical officers on referrals and treatment plans
• Record diagnosis and treatment notes for each patient you see
