SCTIMST Post Doctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, needs a Post Doctoral Fellow for a foreign-funded public health study, project P-5393. The study is called "The long-term effectiveness of a peer-led lifestyle intervention program on diabetes progression and cardiovascular risk: The Kerala Diabetes Prevention Program in India".

In plain words, the team is checking whether a community programme run by trained peers keeps people from developing diabetes and heart disease over the long run. This is a temporary project post filled through a walk-in interview, not a regular SCTIMST appointment.

The post suits a recent PhD in Health Sciences or a doctor with an MD in Community Medicine or Ophthalmology who enjoys handling field data and writing papers. If you already know STATA, R, SPSS or REDCap and have a couple of publications, you will stand out.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Recent degree only: Your PhD or MD must have been completed within the four years before the interview day.
• Thesis submitted? You can still attend if you have submitted your PhD thesis and are waiting for the final defence.
• Contract tenure: The appointment is purely on contract for one year, tied to the project.
• Consolidated pay: The monthly amount is fixed and consolidated, so do not expect separate allowances on top of it.
• Screening test: If many candidates turn up, SCTIMST may hold a qualifying written test first. Only those who clear it go on to the interview, and the test marks are not counted in the final ranking.
• Age relaxation for research experience: Candidates who have worked in a Government Research Organisation can get relaxation under the ICMR order dated 18 October 2024.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online form and nothing to post in advance. You simply walk in on the interview day at the ground floor of the AMCHSS Building, SCTIMST, Medical College Campus, Thiruvananthapuram.

Reporting starts at 10:00 am and the interview begins at 11:00 am. Bring your bio-data along with original certificates and a set of copies proving your age, qualification and experience.
