RCC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Thiruvananthapuram — the State Cancer Institute run under the Government of Kerala — is filling Assistant Professor posts in four cancer-care specialities. These are regular faculty posts against existing vacancies, not contract or walk-in jobs, so this drive suits oncology and radiology specialists looking for a permanent faculty position in Kerala. Almost every seat in this round carries a community reservation, so check which speciality and community a seat is earmarked for before you apply.

The posts are at the RCC campus at Medical College P.O., Thiruvananthapuram. Because these are faculty positions, the notice applies National Medical Commission (NMC) rules on what training and teaching experience can be counted.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Surgical Oncology: for surgeons with an MCh, DrNB or DNB in Surgical Oncology; the seat in this round is reserved for a Scheduled Caste candidate.
  • Medical Oncology: for physicians holding a DM, DrNB or DNB in Medical Oncology; both seats are reserved — one for an SC/ST candidate and one for a Muslim candidate.
  • Radiodiagnosis: for radiologists with an MD or DNB in Radiodiagnosis plus senior residency; one of the seats is reserved for Ezhava/Thiyya/Billava candidates.
  • Radiation Oncology: for radiation oncologists with an MD or DNB in Radiation Oncology plus senior residency; the seat is reserved for a Scheduled Caste candidate.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Basic medical degree: Your MBBS-level qualification must be listed in Schedule I, II or Part III of the third Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. If your degree falls under Part II of the third schedule, you must also meet the conditions of section 13(3) of the Act.
  • Senior residency rule: For Radiodiagnosis and Radiation Oncology, the one year of Senior Residency must come after your MD/DNB, in the same subject, at a recognised medical institution.
  • NMC recognition: Training or teaching done in a department or unit that the National Medical Commission has not recognised for postgraduate teaching will not count towards faculty experience.
  • Reservation rules: Appointments from the select list follow the Government of Kerala reservation rules, which is why community-specific seats such as Muslim and Ezhava/Thiyya/Billava appear in this notice.
  • Medical Council registration: You must send proof of your Medical Council registration along with your application.
  • Verification: Every document you send will be checked by RCC, so make sure your copies are complete and self-attested.

The Director, Regional Cancer Centre, Medical College P.O., Post Box No. 2417, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala – 695011
