IISER Bhopal Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) is looking for one Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow (IPDF) for its Department of Data Science and Engineering. The research areas are deep learning, geoinformatics and computer vision, so this suits you if your Ph.D. work sits anywhere near AI-based image or geospatial analysis. The call comes from the institute's Office of the Dean, Faculty Affairs. You do not need the degree in hand yet — scholars who have already submitted their Ph.D. thesis can apply too.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The fellowship runs for one year at first and can be extended by one more year if your work is satisfactory.
• Thesis-submitted candidates: You must submit the provisional or final Ph.D. degree certificate within six months of joining. If you miss this, the appointment is cancelled or the institute decides in consultation with the thesis processing authority.
• Reduced fellowship until the degree: Until your Ph.D. is awarded you get a lower fellowship plus HRA; the full amount is restored from the date the degree or provisional degree is awarded.
• Medical insurance: You must hold a medical insurance policy of at least Rs. 1 lakh in your own name for the whole fellowship. The institute does not reimburse medical bills.
• Leave and OPD: You get leave and OPD medical facility on the same terms as the institute's PG students, as set out in the PG Manual.
• No housing: IISER Bhopal will not give you accommodation, so plan your own stay in Bhopal.
• Age preference: There is no hard upper age limit, but candidates below 35 on the last date get preference.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.

• Carry out research in deep learning and computer vision at the Department of Data Science and Engineering
• Work on geoinformatics research problems within the department
