SCTIMST Project Research Scientist II Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology, is hiring a Project Research Scientist II (Non-Medical) at its Biomedical Technology Wing in Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram. The post sits inside an ICMR-funded project (P.8286) that is building an off-the-shelf injectable hydrogel loaded with exosomes from platelet-induced mesenchymal stem cells, meant to heal chronic diabetic wounds.

This is a project-based contract, not a regular institute post, and selection happens through a walk-in interview. It suits you if you already work with cell culture, molecular biology and proteomics and want hands-on work on a translational wound-care product. A Ph.D holder can apply directly, while a postgraduate in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Biological Sciences needs three years of experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Reserved post: The single vacancy is reserved for a Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidate. If no eligible ST candidate turns up, SC candidates will be considered, and only after that will the post open to unreserved (UR) candidates.
• Project tenure: The engagement runs up to 13 September 2027 at first and is likely to be extended up to 13 September 2030, in step with the project.
• Counting experience: Only experience gained after you earned the essential qualification counts.
• Hands-on skills expected: The notice lists cell culture, molecular biology, secretome isolation, proteomics analysis, 3D culture and animal experimentation as essential experience; exosome isolation and characterisation is a plus.
• Screening test: If many candidates come, a qualifying written test may be held first. Its marks do not count towards the final ranking.
• Working candidates: If you are already employed, bring a No Objection Certificate from your current employer to the interview.
• Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Carry a filled Recruitment Report Form, your bio-data, and original plus self-attested copies of your age, qualification and experience certificates. ST/SC candidates must bring a caste certificate in the Central Government format, issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.
