SCTIMST Research Associate I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology, is hiring a Research Associate I at its Biomedical Technology Wing in Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram. The post is part of the DBT-funded project “Centre of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Cardiovascular Devices” (project P.8264). It is a contract project post, not a permanent job — a good fit if you hold an M.Tech, M.E. or PhD and want to work on real medical devices.

The Biomedical Technology Wing is where SCTIMST designs and tests medical devices, and the institute is a Technical Research Centre for biomedical devices with its own incubator, TIMed. On this project you take cardiovascular device ideas through design, simulation, prototyping and testing, right up to technology transfer. Hands-on work in FEM, CFD, CAD or quality documentation gives you a clear edge.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Reserved post: The post is earmarked for an OBC candidate; if no eligible OBC candidate is found, EWS candidates are considered, and after them UR candidates.
• Tenure: You are first engaged for 6 months, and the post is likely to be extended up to 13 June 2029.
• Research paper: You need at least one paper in an SCI-indexed journal to qualify.
• Experience rule: Experience counts only if gained after your M.Tech/M.E.; PhD holders do not need experience.
• Screening test: If many people apply, a qualifying written test may be held first; its marks do not count for the final ranking.
• No TA/DA: You travel to the interview at your own cost.
• Category certificates: OBC candidates need a valid non-creamy layer certificate and EWS candidates an Income and Asset certificate, in the central government format, issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.
