ISTC Personal Secretary Trainee Recruitment 2026: Overview

India Ship Technology Centre (ISTC) is a not-for-profit company set up under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, under the aegis of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. It is now hiring Personal Secretary (Trainee) staff for its office in Kochi, Kerala. This is the first phase of ISTC's recruitment for 2026-27, and it is open only to Indian nationals.

The role starts as a one-year paid training on a fixed stipend, not a regular government post. If you are a recent arts, commerce, science, BCA or BBA graduate with high marks and you are comfortable with office software such as SAP, MS Project and MS Office, this is a good entry into the shipping technology sector.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• After training: Depending on ISTC's needs, open vacancies and your performance, you may be offered a contractual post for up to five years, which can be extended further.
• Posting: All selected candidates will work at ISTC, Kochi.
• Higher degrees do not help: If you hold a B.Tech, M.Sc or similar higher degree but not the prescribed bachelor's degree, you will not be considered.
• Equivalent qualifications: You must upload an Equivalency Certificate from the competent authority, or your application will be rejected.
• CGPA conversion: If your university does not give a conversion rule, multiply your grade points by 10 to get your percentage.
• Rank list: The rank list stays valid for 18 months from the date the last candidate reports, or until a fresh notification for the same post, and can be used to fill later vacancies.
• Phone policy: The selected candidate must give an undertaking to follow ISTC's policy on smartphone use at the workplace.
• Medical fitness: Appointment depends on a medical examination at a hospital chosen by ISTC.
• Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending any stage of selection.
• Jurisdiction: Any legal dispute can only be filed in courts or tribunals at Ernakulam.

You do not need to post a printout, certificates or a demand draft to ISTC. Keep a copy of the form with your registration number, and quote it in every email.
