ISTC Chief Executive Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

India Ship Technology Centre (ISTC), a Section 8 company working under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is hiring a Chief Executive Officer for its Kochi campus. This is a senior contractual leadership role built around turning ISTC into a national hub for indigenous ship design, research, consultancy, training and maritime-policy support. The role reports directly to the ISTC Board of Directors.

The assignment suits an experienced maritime engineering leader who has already managed major projects or operations in commercial or defence shipbuilding, ship design or R&D. Your work will connect government, shipyards, maritime businesses and academic institutions while supporting the wider goal of stronger Indian capability in ship design and technology.

ISTC expects the CEO to combine technical judgement with institution-building. You will shape long-term priorities, guide research and consultancy programmes, develop training partnerships and keep the organisation aligned with its public-purpose mandate. The notice also values people who have worked on policy, advisory or consultancy assignments and who already have strong links across the maritime ecosystem.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract: The initial engagement is for three years. An extension may be considered according to organisational need and your performance.
• Workplace: You will be stationed at the ISTC campus in Kochi; this is not an all-India transferable posting under the notice.
• Experience evidence: Only work completed after the prescribed qualification is counted. Your certificates should clearly state dates, duties and responsibilities.
• Equivalent qualification: If you rely on an equivalent degree, you must upload an equivalency certificate from the competent authority.
• Certificate check: Your candidature remains provisional until ISTC checks original proof of age, education, experience and medical fitness.
• Final appointment: Selection does not become final until you meet the notified requirements and clear the prescribed medical-fitness process.
