NCERT Senior Consultant Recruitment 2026

NCERT is hiring 2 Senior Consultants for its Cell for National Centre for Literacy (CNCL) under the ULLAS - Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram project. NCERT Senior Consultant Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has released a notification to engage 2 Senior Consultants at its Cell for National Centre for Literacy (CNCL) in New Delhi. NCERT is an apex national body under the Ministry of Education that supports and advises on school education across India. These posts support the ULLAS - Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, the national adult literacy programme (earlier known as Adult Education) run under the "Education for All" scheme and approved by the Project Approval Board of the Ministry of Education for 2026-27. As a Senior Consultant, you will give academic support to adult-literacy projects, run workshops for teachers and educators, take part in research studies, and help build learning material for the programme across States and Union Territories. This is a purely temporary, contract-based engagement up to 31 March 2027 — there is no written exam, and you are selected through a walk-in interview held on a single day.

You must meet both the education and experience conditions below.

Educational Qualification

• Post-Graduation with 55% or more marks in Adult Education or a related subject.
• Related subjects include Education, Language, Psychology, Science, Social Work, Sociology and other subjects of Social Sciences.
• You must also meet the UGC guidelines for Assistant Professor at entry level.

Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in the relevant field, matching the needs of the programme or project.
• If the experience you claim is from a job that paid Rs. 40,000 or more per month, keep an attested Salary Slip, Bank Statement or ITR ready as proof.
• Time spent doing M.Phil or Ph.D is not counted as experience. Internship experience, whether paid or unpaid, is also not counted.

Preferred (Desirable) Qualification

• A Ph.D degree in the relevant subject.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, SPSS and other data-analysis software.
• Experience in data handling, data analysis and report writing.

This role suits experienced education, social science or literacy professionals who want to work on a national-level adult education programme.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 45 years.
• For retired faculty members, the maximum age is 70 years.
• Age relaxation is allowed as per Government of India (GoI) norms.

Salary

• You will get a fixed, consolidated salary of Rs. 1,00,000 per month.
• This is a consolidated amount — no separate DA, HRA or other allowances are added on top.
• The engagement is on a contract basis up to 31 March 2027 and does not lead to a regular NCERT job.

Application Fee

• There is no application fee for this walk-in interview.
• NCERT will not pay any TA/DA (travel or daily allowance) for attending the interview.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test. Everything happens on the day of the walk-in interview:

1. Document Verification: Your original degrees, mark sheets and certificates are checked, along with one set of self-attested photocopies. If you claim experience from a job paying Rs. 40,000 or more per month, you must also show an attested Salary Slip, Bank Statement or ITR as proof.
2. Walk-In Interview: A selection panel interviews you the same day and checks whether you are the right fit for the Senior Consultant role. The panel may ask about your subject knowledge, your past work in education or literacy, and your data-analysis and report-writing skills.

The selected candidate must join immediately after selection.

How to Apply

There is no online form. A walk-in interview means you do not apply online in advance — you simply reach the venue on the given date with your documents, register, and appear before the panel the same day. To be considered, attend the walk-in interview in person:

1. Fill in the application form given in the official notification at ncert.nic.in.
2. Attach a recent photograph and self-attested copies of all your certificates.
3. Reach the venue: G.B. Pant Block, 3rd Floor, Room No. 322, NCERT, Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi - 110016.
4. Register at the venue strictly between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on 21 July 2026 — no one is accepted after 11:00 AM.
5. Reach early — since registration closes at 11:00 AM sharp, plan to arrive in good time to finish the document check.
6. Carry all your original documents for verification during the interview.

• Provide academic support for projects, research studies and programme activities that develop and run adult education across States and UTs under CNCL.
• Organise workshops for volunteer teachers, instructors, educators and various State/UT officials linked to the adult education programme.
• Contribute to and carry out research studies related to adult literacy.
• Develop print, non-print, ICT-based and digital learning material for volunteer teachers and educators.
• Handle data collection, data analysis and report writing for the programme.
• Coordinate with State and UT functionaries to help roll out the Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram.
