NCERT Assistant Editor Recruitment 2026: Overview

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is hiring Assistant Editors for its Department of Education in Languages (DEL) at Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi. You will work on the PAB project “E-Magazine Sapnon Ki Udaan” (PAB Sl. No. 22), a digital magazine project run by the department.

This is a purely temporary, project-based engagement and not a regular NCERT post, although the notice says the term is likely to be extended. The opening suits seasoned editors from book publishing, journalism or textbook production who are at ease with online editing and can work in English, Hindi or Urdu. Retired professionals are welcome too, as NCERT keeps a separate, higher age cap for them.

NCERT has attached a ready application form at the end of the notice. You fill it in and send it along with your supporting papers, so keep scanned copies of your degrees and experience proof handy before you start.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement is purely temporary and runs up to 31 March 2027; the notice expects it to be extended.
• Experience proof: If you claim experience, attach an attested salary slip, bank statement or ITR for that work with your email application.
• M.Phil./Ph.D. time: Years spent pursuing an M.Phil. or Ph.D. do not count as experience for this post.
• Working candidates: If you are already employed, route your application through your employer or send a No Objection Certificate.
• Travel costs: NCERT pays no TA/DA for attending the interview.
• Joining: Selected candidates may have to join immediately, so plan your notice period early.
• Eligibility check: Check your eligibility yourself before applying. Being called for interview does not secure the post, and NCERT can end your candidature at any stage if you are found unsuitable.

The form asks for the post applied for and the PAB code, your educational and professional qualifications, your work experience, and an undertaking listing any earlier engagement with NCERT. If you are shortlisted, carry your original certificates, a self-attested photocopy of each, and a passport-size photograph to the interview — without them you will not be allowed to attend.
