TMC Punjab Medical and Non-Medical Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, is hiring doctors, scientists and technical staff for its two cancer hospitals in Punjab: Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCH&RC), New Chandigarh and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital (HBCH), Sangrur. These are regular, full-time posts under advertisement TMC/PUNJAB/AD/05/2026, covering seven Medical Officer specialities plus four scientific and IT roles.

The big draw for senior doctors is the teaching title: Medical Officers get an academic designation such as Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, based on their teaching experience under National Medical Commission (NMC) norms. Medical staff can also earn performance-linked incentives. If you are an oncology, radiology, nuclear medicine or chest specialist, or a physicist, biomedical engineer or network professional, this drive is worth a close look.

Posts and Disciplines

• Reservation: Medical Physicist 'C' is the only post reserved for SC and ST candidates; every other post is unreserved.
• Pulmonary Medicine: TMC prefers doctors with hands-on EBUS, medical thoracoscopy and bronchoscopy skills, earlier work in an oncology centre and a record of clinical research.
• Network Assistant: the role is about running a large hospital IT setup, including IBM i-series (AS/400), Windows servers, L2/L3 switches, routers, Wi-Fi and firewalls. A CCNA certificate and healthcare IT experience give you an edge.
• Medical Physicist: you need the AERB Radiological Safety Officer certificate; coding in C++, MATLAB or Python is a plus.
• Scientific Officer 'D' (CSSD): a PG diploma or degree in hospital management is preferred.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Who can apply: Indian citizens, OCI card holders and foreign nationals who meet the qualification and experience rules; the appointment depends on the required clearances.
• Rotation: you can be moved to any TMC unit as needed, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Sangrur, Mullanpur, Visakhapatnam, Varanasi, Guwahati and Jatni (Odisha).
• Transfer: you must serve at least five years at your posting before asking for a transfer, though TMC can still transfer staff on its own.
• Contract option: TMC may offer some appointments on a fixed-term contract with consolidated pay instead of a regular post.
• Government employees: get permission from your head of office and show it at the interview or test, or you will not be allowed to appear.
• Referees: list three referees who trained or supervised your work.
• Shortlisting: TMC can set a benchmark and limit how many people it calls; meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call.
• Experience: only experience gained after the required qualification counts.
• Legal jurisdiction: any dispute falls under the courts at SAS Nagar.
