AIIMS Rajkot Laboratory Technician Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rajkot (AIIMS Rajkot) is hiring a Laboratory Technician for the National One Health Programme for Prevention and Control of Zoonoses (NOHP-PCZ). The project (EM/23/2025) is funded by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi and runs from the institute's Department of Microbiology under Principal Investigator Dr. (Col) Ashwini Agarwal.

Zoonoses are diseases that spread between animals and people, so this lab role sits inside a national disease-control programme. It is a project-based contract job, not a regular AIIMS post — the first term is 11 months, with extensions depending on your work and the project's funding. If you have a degree or diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and some hands-on lab experience, this is a good way to get research-hospital exposure.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract only: You get no claim to a regular AIIMS Rajkot post, or to continue in this or any other project, after the contract ends.
• Tenure: The first term is 11 months. The Principal Investigator can extend or shorten it, and the contract ends early if NCDC withdraws funding.
• Notice period: Either side can end the contract with 30 days' notice or a month's pay instead.
• Fixed pay, no extras: The pay is consolidated; you are not treated as a regular government employee and get no other benefits or special allowances.
• Shifts and travel: You may have to work shifts or night duty, go on field visits and travel outstation. You may also be sent temporarily to another study site.
• No accommodation: AIIMS Rajkot gives no hostel or housing to project staff.
• Experience rule: Only experience gained after your essential qualification counts, and it must be from a recognised institution. Work in a quality-assured laboratory gets preference.
• NOC: If you work in a government office, PSU or another AIIMS Rajkot project, bring a No Objection Certificate to the interview.
• No TA/DA: Travel costs for the test or interview are not paid, and requests to change the interview date are not accepted.
