About This Job

VNSGU Office Superintendent Recruitment 2026: Overview
Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), the state public university based in Surat, is filling an Office Superintendent post in its administrative wing. The post was sanctioned by the Education Department, Government of Gujarat through a government resolution issued in May 2026, and it is a regular non-teaching appointment governed by the Gujarat Public Universities Uniform Statutes and state service rules.
This is a senior office role, not an entry-level clerk job. You need years of clerical or administrative work behind you, as a Head Clerk, Senior Clerk or Junior Clerk in a government, semi-government, local body, PSU or grant-in-aid institution, or in a private university or self-financed college. The longer your record at a junior level, the more years the notice asks for. If you have spent your career handling files, office procedure and service rules, and you read and write both Gujarati and Hindi comfortably, this post is worth a serious look.
The post sits in the unreserved (General) category, but candidates from every reserved category can still apply. Selection runs through a screening paper and a main paper focused on office procedure, Gujarat service rules and higher-education regulation, followed by a check of your original documents.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Fixed pay at the start: For the first five years you receive a fixed monthly pay, not the full pay-scale salary. The regular pay scale applies after that period.
- Post depends on government approval: The current sanction covers the relevant financial year only. Continuing the post after that depends on the Gujarat government renewing its budget approval, and the appointment is given only after the state government approves it.
- Unreserved post, open to all: SC, ST, SEBC and EWS candidates can apply and get the usual concessions, but for final selection they must meet the General category cut-off.
- Gujarat origin for reservation: Only SC, ST, SEBC and EWS candidates of Gujarat origin get reserved-category benefits, and SEBC candidates must attach a current financial year Non-Creamy Layer certificate.
- Private-sector experience: Experience from a private university or self-financed college counts only if your appointment there followed state government norms.
- Language exam after joining: After regular appointment you must pass the Hindi and/or Gujarati language exam that the government prescribes.
- Foreign degrees: If your degree is from a foreign university, you must show proof of its equivalence in India during document verification; proof submitted after that window is not considered.
- Document verification: The University calls seven candidates for the post by email for certificate checks, and calls the next names on the merit list if some drop out.
- Debarred candidates: If GPSC or any other recruitment body has debarred you and the period is still running, your application is cancelled automatically.
- No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for attending the written exams.
Application Submission Notes
You apply on the University's Samarth recruitment portal (vnsgunt.samarth.edu.in), upload your documents there and pay the exam fee online. The fee link closes on its own after the last date, and the University does not accept late fees in any form.
After applying online, send two printed sets of the application with self-attested certificates by Speed Post, Registered AD or in person to The Registrar, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, University Campus, Udhna-Magdalla Road, Surat 395007. Write Application for the post of Office Superintendent on the envelope; the hard copies must reach the Registrar by 6:10 pm on 8 December 2026.
If you already work in a government or institutional job, apply through your present employer. When the forwarded application may be late, send an advance copy marked ADVANCE COPY with the fee before the due date. Admit cards and other letters arrive only by email, and exam updates come by SMS, so keep your email ID and mobile number active until the process ends.
