IOPB Scientific Assistant-B Electronics Recruitment 2026: Overview

Institute of Physics (IoP), Bhubaneswar is an autonomous research institute funded by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), working on frontier areas of theoretical and experimental physics. It is filling one regular post of Scientific Assistant-B (Electronics) through direct recruitment under post code SA-B-01. The person selected will mainly support the institute's Ion Beam Laboratory (IBL) and its accelerator, so this is a hands-on lab job, not a desk role.

If you hold a B.Sc. or a three-year diploma in electronics and enjoy building, fixing and programming instruments, this post fits well. IoP says experience with detector electronics, data acquisition, FPGA or microcontroller systems, LabVIEW, power supplies and vacuum or accelerator instrumentation will help, and past work in a research lab or ion-beam facility is a clear plus.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Reservation: The single post is Unreserved (UR).
• Probation: Two years, subject to the applicable rules.
• Working hours: You may have to work in the Ion Beam Laboratory and other labs beyond normal hours or in shifts when operations need it.
• Other labs: Besides the IBL, you will give electronics repair and maintenance support to other experimental labs of the institute.
• Government employees: If you work in a Central or State Government office, autonomous body, PSU or government-funded institute, apply through proper channel. You may send an advance copy within the deadline.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call for the test or interview; IoP may shortlist as per its Recruitment Rules.
• Right to cancel: The institute may leave the post unfilled or change or cancel the process at any stage.

• Updates: IoP will publish any corrigendum, addendum, the detailed exam scheme and syllabus only on its website, so check it regularly.

• Provide electronics and instrumentation support for the Ion Beam Laboratory's accelerator and experimental facilities
• Develop, assemble, test and maintain analog and digital electronics, power supplies and control systems
• Build and integrate electronics for detectors, experimental setups and data-acquisition systems
• Program and interface FPGA and microcontroller systems where needed
• Troubleshoot, diagnose faults, repair and carry out preventive maintenance of electronic equipment
• Help faculty, technical staff and students install and run experimental systems
• Keep technical documents, equipment records, spares and inventory up to date
