AWEIL Director DCC Recruitment 2026: Overview

Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL), under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, is hiring a Director for the Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU) Coordination Cell (DCC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). The cell will support long-term research partnerships between defence public sector undertakings and the institute, following the department’s guidelines. Its research links cover science and engineering through M.Tech and Ph.D. scholars, bringing the institute’s academic work together with defence technology needs. This is a full-time contractual leadership assignment in a cell being established at IIT Kanpur.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial engagement: Your contract will run for two years. A further extension needs mutual agreement and depends on the department’s needs and your performance.
• Overall tenure: The notice limits the engagement to a maximum of five years, subject to its separate age ceiling. An extension is not automatic.
• Contract terms: The fixed monthly pay remains unchanged during the contract. There is no annual increment or percentage increase built into the engagement.
• Leave: You can take 30 days of leave for each completed calendar year, as provided in the notice.
• Confidentiality: The Official Secrets Act, 1923 applies to the selected Director. You must protect information obtained during the assignment and must not share it with anyone who is not authorised to receive it.
• Government records: Documents connected with the assignment remain government property. This condition applies to the information you handle while working in the coordination cell.
• Declarations: The application asks about disciplinary or vigilance inquiries, service penalties and criminal cases. If any answer is yes, explain the details on a separate sheet.
• Accuracy of information: False, incomplete or incorrect information, or a later finding that you do not meet the conditions, can lead to rejection or termination without notice.
• Language version: If the Hindi and English versions differ or leave room for doubt, the English version takes priority.

• Recommend the DCC annual budget and manage spending within delegated powers.
• Oversee infrastructure setup and recruitment of contractual staff for the cell.
• Recommend whether projects should continue, change or be suspended after technical review.
• Coordinate with defence research agencies, the armed forces, industry experts and other defence public sector undertakings.
• Send monthly reports on progress, obstacles and support needs to the Chairman and Managing Director through the Director Operations.
