ICG Chargeman Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is recruiting Chargeman staff for its civilian technical establishment through direct recruitment. This is a Group B, non-gazetted, non-ministerial post supporting the upkeep of Coast Guard vessels and equipment. The notice names Okha, Diglipur and New Mangalore as the places where openings currently exist, while retaining an all-India service requirement.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Posting flexibility: The listed places of appointment can change with service needs. If selected, you may have to serve anywhere on the mainland or in the Andaman and Nicobar or Lakshadweep islands.
- Reservation: The disability reservation in this drive is specifically for category B, meaning hard-of-hearing applicants. This reservation sits within the notified openings; it does not represent a separate additional post.
- Provisional openings: The Coast Guard may change the advertised vacancies as its requirements change. Your preferred location therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed station.
- Application accuracy: Wrong information can lead to rejection during recruitment or after joining. The notice also warns that overwriting, cutting, corrections and information that differs from the supporting papers can cause rejection.
- Government employees: If you already work in a government department, your application must go through the proper channel. The notice makes this an explicit condition for serving applicants.
- Travel concession: SC applicants may claim second-class rail or bus fare by the shortest route under government rules, using original tickets. This concession does not apply if the centre is less than 30 km from home or if you already work for the Central or a State Government.
- No automatic appointment: Appearing in or qualifying the written test does not by itself create a right to appointment. Your candidature remains subject to the notice’s conditions.
- Recruitment communication: Admit cards will be sent by post, and the shortlisted-candidate list will appear on the Coast Guard website. Keep track of both the postal address you provide and official website updates.
Application Submission Notes
- Prescribed form: Use Annexure 1 and fill it in English or Hindi; the notice provides the format as part of the same recruitment document.
- Postal route: Send your application by ordinary post to The Director General, For PD (Rectt), Coast Guard Headquarters, Directorate of Recruitment, C-1, Phase II, Industrial Area, Sector-62, Noida, U.P. 201309; hand delivery and courier applications will not be considered.
- Envelope wording: Mark the envelope in bold with “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF CHARGEMAN” and the category under which you are applying, as applications without these markings can be rejected.
