Army TES 57 Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Army offers a route to a Permanent Commission through Technical Entry Scheme (TES 57). You enter as a cadet and complete military and engineering training before commissioning as a Lieutenant. Most commissions are in the engineering, signals, and electronics and mechanical engineering branches, though the scheme covers all arms and services.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training route: The programme lasts four years: three at a Cadets Training Wing in Pune, Mhow or Secunderabad, followed by one at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun. Successful completion leads to an engineering degree, without additional seniority for that degree.
• Wing preferences: You must give distinct preferences for all three training wings. These cannot be changed later. The Army decides the final allocation, so your first preference does not guarantee that wing.
• Engineering branches: Pune offers Civil and Mechanical Engineering; Mhow offers Telecom and IT Engineering as a dual degree; Secunderabad offers Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. These connect with the Corps of Engineers, Corps of Signals, and Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers respectively.
• Marriage restriction: You must remain unmarried until training ends. Marriage after applying prevents selection for training; marriage during training leads to discharge and recovery of government training expenditure.
• Training costs: The government pays for training, but withdrawal or voluntary resignation for personal reasons can require repayment. Final selection also involves signing the prescribed bonds and certificates.
• Academic progress: At most two academic relegations are allowed during training under the stated university rules. A further academic relegation leads to withdrawal.
• Service allocation: You cannot insist on a particular arm or service. Allocation follows the needs of the Army, and appointment remains provisional until the relevant background checks are satisfactory.
• Travel support: Your first appearance for a particular type of commission carries the specified return rail or bus fare within India. Repeat appearances for that commission type do not carry this entitlement.
• Communication: Keep your registered email and mobile number active for call-up information. The recruitment website carries joining instructions and other updates.

Application Submission Notes

No application printout needs to be posted to the Directorate General of Recruiting. Keep your reference copy and take the specified printout to the selection centre. If your postal address changes after applying, inform the directorate by post, quoting your roll number, name and chosen course.
