DRDO LRDE Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Ministry of Defence, is engaging technical consultants for radar-related work. These short-term contracts support its Bengaluru establishment and include radar testing at Kolar. Post-wise Duties

Quality and reliability assurance

For post code 356, you develop radar quality plans, allocate reliability targets and analyse reliability using professional software. For post code 359, you plan subsystem quality tests, document completed testing and coordinate with quality and certification agencies.

Project coordination and site testing

For post code 357, you prepare project progress reports and meeting records, track procurement and coordinate contract discussions with industry partners. For post code 358, you calibrate active arrays, track module failures and repairs, record stores movements and check power, cooling and mechanical systems at Kolar.

Electrical and civil assignments

For post code 360, you help design subsystem connections, choose cables and connectors and test the resulting arrangements. For post code 361, you monitor civil works, prepare land-case replies and project-review records, inspect work quality and coordinate with state departments and defence works units.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: Engagement starts for one year and may be extended under the applicable rules. Most assignments estimate three years of work, while the Kolar testing assignment estimates one year; these estimates do not guarantee an extended contract.
• Joining gap: At least 15 days must separate your retirement and appointment as a consultant.
• Working hours: You follow the laboratory schedule. Special circumstances may involve holidays or work beyond normal hours without extra benefits or leave.
• Leave: Paid absence may be allowed at 1.5 days for each completed month of service. Unused leave may not carry beyond the calendar year.
• Conduct: You must follow the contract, confidentiality requirements and applicable conduct rules. Private business or professional work that conflicts with government interests is prohibited.
• Review: DRDO may review or end the consultancy at any time. This is a temporary, non-official engagement for specific work and is not treated as re-employment.
