Army TGC 145 Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Army is recruiting through the 145th Technical Graduate Course (TGC) for training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. This entry leads to a Permanent Commission as a Lieutenant after you successfully complete training. The notification groups technical disciplines into separate streams, with the final allocation of Arms and Services decided by Army Headquarters.

Posts and Disciplines

• Civil: This stream groups civil, architecture and building-construction disciplines.
• Computer Science: The notified group includes computing and information-technology disciplines, alongside specified artificial-intelligence and data-science streams.
• Electrical: This group covers electrical engineering and the electrical-and-electronics combinations named in the notice.
• Electronics: Communication, instrumentation, electronics, telecommunication and related notified branches sit within this group.
• Mechanical: This stream brings together mechanical, production, automobile, industrial, aerospace and other specified branches.
• Miscellaneous Engineering Streams: The notice groups subjects such as agricultural, metallurgical, chemical, mining, textile and nuclear technology here.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training: You will train at IMA, Dehradun for about 12 months. The government meets the training cost, subject to the recovery conditions in the notification.
• Commission: You initially receive a Short Service Commission on probation as a Lieutenant from the course start or your reporting date, whichever is later. Successful completion leads to Permanent Commission; the notice separately defines how probation counts for service benefits.
• Marriage restriction: You must remain unmarried through training and cannot live with parents or guardians during it. Marriage after applying can cancel your entry; marriage during training brings discharge and recovery of government expenditure.
• Withdrawal costs: Leaving for personal reasons can trigger recovery of training costs. The printed tentative rate is Rs. 20,481.96 per week, with an annual increment of 8%; the actual recoverable cost is calculated under the rules applicable when you leave.
• Final-year undertaking: Final-year entrants join on an additional bond covering recovery of training costs, stipend, pay and allowances if they fail to provide the required degree certificate.
• Service allocation: Army Headquarters decides your Arm or Service before passing out. Your engineering stream does not give you a right to demand a particular allocation.
• Alternative course: Recommended applicants outside their stream allocation may be offered the October 2027 Short Service Commission Technical course, subject to its conditions and unused places.
• Travel support: For your first Services Selection Board (SSB) appearance for a particular type of commission, the notice allows travel reimbursement within India under its rules. Repeat appearances for that commission type do not carry the same entitlement.
• Reporting for training: If you fail to report within 7 days of the joining-letter reporting date without prior permission from the academy Adjutant, your candidature can be cancelled.
• Language versions: Both versions of this bilingual notice apply, but the English version takes precedence if their wording differs.
