AMU Research Associate & Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 — 2 Posts

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has released an advertisement for 2 project-based research positions under an ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research) Major Project titled "Land Transformation and Its Impact on Flood Vulnerability in Srinagar City: A Comprehensive Analysis of Socio-economic Impacts and Adaptive Strategies Using Geospatial Approach". The project is directed by Dr. Arshad Amin, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, AMU. The initial appointment is for 8 months, extendable up to 1 year. This is a good opportunity for researchers with a social science background and interest in GIS and geospatial analysis.

• Research Associate: 1 post — Rs. 47,000 per month

Who Can Apply?

Research Associate

• Qualification: Post Graduate degree in a social science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks
• Additional Requirement: Ph.D. / M.Phil. / NET / SLET qualification is required
• Preference: Candidates with prior experience as a Research Associate will be given preference

Research Assistant

• Qualification: Post Graduate degree in a social science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks
• Preference: Candidates with NET / M.Phil. / Ph.D. will be preferred

Desired Experience (Both Posts)

• In-depth knowledge of data entry and analysis
• Proficiency in GIS mapping is preferred
• Proficiency in English and strong academic writing skills

Salary

• Research Associate: Rs. 47,000 per month (as per ICSSR guidelines)
• Research Assistant: Rs. 37,000 per month (as per ICSSR guidelines)
• Note: No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview.

Selection will be done in 2 stages:

• Perform data entry, data cleaning, and statistical analysis using standard software tools
• Conduct GIS mapping and spatial analysis related to land transformation and flood vulnerability patterns
• Prepare field reports, research summaries, and academic write-ups as directed by the Project Director
• Support review of existing literature and contribute to the drafting of research papers and project reports
• Coordinate with field teams and maintain proper documentation of all project activities
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to presentations of research findings
