AMU Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is filling Senior Resident posts at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), run by its Faculty of Medicine in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The openings sit in two departments, T.B. and Respiratory Diseases and Surgery, under local advertisement FM/40/2026. These are purely temporary teaching posts filled through a Local Selection Committee, so they suit postgraduate doctors who want residency experience at a busy university teaching hospital. Both Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders can apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Resident, T.B. and Respiratory Diseases: residency in the chest medicine department of JNMC, working with tuberculosis and other lung disease patients.
• Senior Resident, Surgery: residency in the Department of Surgery at JNMC and its attached hospital.

Eligibility for both posts follows NMC norms and the Residency Scheme adopted by AMU. If you want both posts, you must fill a separate application form for each one.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Temporary engagement: Appointments are purely temporary and can be ended at any time without notice or a stated reason.
• Eligibility cut-off: Your qualifications and experience are counted as on the last date of submitting the application form.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview; the university can limit the number of candidates it calls using its own criteria.
• Posts may change: The number and nature of the posts may differ from the advertisement at the time of interview.
• Medical check: Selected candidates may be examined by the university's Internal Medical Board.
• PwD candidates: You need a disability of at least 40%, backed by a certificate on the proforma at Appendix-I of the Careers Portal; the university's Medical Board checks the claim before any appointment letter is issued.
• Marks relaxation: Any relaxation in the percentage of marks follows Government of India rules, wherever they apply.
• Madrasa certificates: Certificates equivalent to High School or Graduation are accepted if they come from a Madrasa or institution recognised by AMU.
• Amendments: Any corrigendum will appear only on the AMU Careers Portal, so check it regularly.

Application Submission Notes

The form can be filled only online on the AMU Careers Portal (careers.amuonline.ac.in). After submitting, print the PDF of the form on A4 paper, sign it, paste a recent front-facing photograph and attach self-attested copies of your documents.

Send this hard copy by post to The Dean, J. N. Medical College, Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh-202002. Write the post applied for, the advertisement number and its date on the top-left of the envelope. The hard copy has its own later deadline, and AMU takes no responsibility for postal delays.

No separate interview letter will be sent for this round. Reach the Dean's Office, Faculty of Medicine half an hour before your department's slot with all original documents; without originals you will not be allowed to appear.
