NPCIL Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), a public sector enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy, is taking in Trade, Diploma and Graduate Apprentices at the Narora Atomic Power Station (NAPS) in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. This is a one-year apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961, not a permanent job — you train inside a working nuclear power plant and earn a monthly stipend.

The biggest highlight is the local preference: candidates living within 16 km of the Narora plant get first preference, subject to the reservation rules. ITI holders, engineering diploma holders, engineering graduates and general-stream graduates (BA, B.Com, BBA, B.Sc) all have seats in this drive.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Trade Apprentice (ITI): Electrician, Fitter and Electronics Mechanic trades for ITI pass-outs; the stipend is higher if you did the two-year ITI course.
  • Diploma Apprentice: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Civil engineering diploma holders.
  • Graduate Apprentice (Engineering): Mechanical and Electrical engineering degree holders.
  • Graduate Apprentice (General stream): Human Resource, Finance and Accounts, and Contract and Material Management seats for non-engineering graduates.
  • PwBD seats: Some seats in each apprentice type are kept for persons with benchmark disability (40% or more), and each trade lists the disability types it can accept.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • No job guarantee: NPCIL has no obligation to employ you after training, and you have no claim to a job there.
  • Earlier apprentices barred: If you have already done, or are doing, an apprenticeship under the Act anywhere, you cannot apply. Apprentices who left earlier training midway are also barred.
  • Pass-out window: Diploma and degree holders must have passed within the last five years, counted back from the closing date.
  • Police verification: Narora is a highly protected area, so you join only after submitting a police verification certificate from the district police.
  • Medical fitness: You must be declared medically fit by NPCIL's competent authority and be free from TB and contagious disease.
  • Absence penalty: If you stay absent, you may have to refund the full stipend received, as decided by the Central Apprenticeship Advisor.
  • No hostel or transport: NPCIL provides no hostel or transport facility to selected apprentices.
  • OBC certificate: Only OBC candidates with a non-creamy layer certificate in the central format get reservation.

Application Submission Notes

Before applying on the NPCIL careers portal, you must register on the right government apprenticeship portal. ITI candidates register on the NAPS 2.0 portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in); diploma and graduate candidates register on the NATS 2.0 portal (nats.education.gov.in).

On that portal, also apply to NAPS Narora using the correct establishment ID — E05200901473 for Trade Apprentices and NUPBUC093592 for Diploma and Graduate Apprentices. Applications made under the wrong establishment ID are not accepted. Make sure your Aadhaar is linked to your bank account.
