TRAI Advisor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is looking to fill the post of Advisor at its Regional Office in Bengaluru through deputation on foreign service terms. TRAI is a statutory body established under the TRAI Act, 1997, responsible for regulating telecommunications services and broadcasting and cable services across India. The appointment is initially for three years or until the officer's superannuation, whichever comes earlier. This is a senior-level position equivalent to the rank of Joint Secretary to the Government of India, and preference will go to candidates holding senior management positions.

Who Can Apply?

This post is open to officers serving in the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, autonomous bodies, statutory organisations, public sector undertakings, recognised universities, or recognised research institutions. You must meet one of the following eligibility conditions:

• Option 1: You are holding an analogous post (equivalent to Advisor level) on regular basis in your parent cadre or department.
• Option 2: You have completed four years of service after appointment to a post on regular basis in Level 13 (Rs. 1,23,100 - Rs. 2,15,900) or equivalent.
• Option 3: You have completed seventeen years of regular service in Group A and have held a post in Level 12 (Rs. 78,800 - Rs. 2,09,200) or equivalent on regular basis for at least seven years.

Educational Qualification

• Essential: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university or institute.
• Experience: At least 15 years of experience in the field of telecommunications, industry, finance, accountancy, law, management, or consumer affairs.
• Note: Preference will be given to candidates holding senior management positions.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 58 years as on the last date of submission of applications (10 April 2026).
• There is no minimum age requirement specified in the notification.

Salary

• Pay Level 14: Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month as per the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
• You will also receive DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance), and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
• The deputation terms are governed by DoP&T OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written examination for this post. Selection is based on eligibility screening and suitability assessment:

1. Eligibility Screening: Your application will be checked against the eligibility criteria, including qualification, experience, and service record.
2. ACR/APAR Review: Your Annual Confidential Reports or Annual Performance Appraisal Reports for the last five years will be evaluated.
3. Vigilance and Cadre Clearance: Your parent department must provide vigilance clearance, disciplinary clearance, and cadre clearance.
4. Document Verification: All certificates and service records will be verified before final selection.
