National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) - TIFR Facility Assistant (MGEF) Recruitment 2026 - Advt No.9/2026

The National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Bangalore, has released Advertisement No.9/2026 dated 15 July 2026 for a Facility Assistant position in its Mouse Genome Engineering Facility. NCBS is a premier research institute working across the full scale of life sciences, and its research facilities support not only NCBS scientists but also academia and industry, both in India and abroad. The Mouse Genome Engineering Facility specifically provides transgenic and cryopreservation services, helping researchers create and preserve genetically modified mouse lines used in biological research. The role needs hands-on lab experience — candidates with the right biology background and strong lab discipline can apply, though those with prior mouse-handling experience are preferred. The Institute has stated that it strives to build a diverse workplace, and candidates of all classes, castes, genders and religions are welcome to apply.

  • Qualification: Master's degree in any biological sciences discipline, or B.E./B.Tech/M.Pharma, from a recognized University/Institute with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Skills: Excellent organization and recordkeeping skills are essential — you will be responsible for maintaining detailed records as per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Experience (desirable): 2 years of experience handling laboratory mice/rats. Knowledge or experience in sperm and embryo handling is a plus.
  • Only experience gained after your minimum qualifying degree, and directly relevant to this facility's work, will be counted. The Screening-cum-Shortlisting Committee decides what counts as relevant, and its decision is final.

Age Limit

  • You should be up to 35 years old as on 1 January 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: As applicable for reserved categories, per Government of India norms.

Salary

  • The pay is consolidated and will be fixed based on your qualification and experience, as per institutional guidelines.

Selection Process

Selection may include a written test and/or interview:

  1. Written Test (if conducted)
  2. Interview

If NCBS receives a large number of applications, it may apply shortlisting criteria to narrow down the candidate pool before interviews. The Institute reserves the right not to fill the post if a suitable candidate is not found, and canvassing in any form will disqualify you.
