NFSU Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, invites applications for one Junior Research Fellow position under a Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM) funded project titled "Development and Stabilization of Crosslinked Starch-Based Biodegradable Hydrogels for Controlled Nutrient Release." The project is led by Principal Investigator Dr. Samandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor at NFSU Gandhinagar. The position is initially for one year and is purely project-based, meaning your engagement will end along with the project unless it is extended or renewed.

NFSU is India's first university dedicated entirely to forensic science and allied disciplines, and it regularly runs interdisciplinary research projects funded by state and central government bodies. GSBTM (Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission) is a Government of Gujarat initiative that funds biotechnology research with practical, real-world applications — in this case, developing biodegradable hydrogels that can control how nutrients are released into soil, which has direct relevance for sustainable agriculture and reducing chemical fertilizer overuse. If you enjoy hands-on lab research and want project experience under DST/GSBTM guidelines, this fellowship gives you a chance to work closely with a Principal Investigator on a funded, outcome-driven project.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Engineering, Plant Biotechnology, or an allied discipline from a recognized university
  • Desirable: NET/GATE qualified — this improves your stipend slab, since the fellowship amount follows separate NET/GATE and non-NET/GATE rates set by GSBTM/DST guidelines
  • Desirable: Prior experience in hydrogel development, polymer science, or related research areas
  • NOC: If you are currently employed, you will need a No Objection Certificate from your employer before joining

Selection Process

Selection is based on:

  1. Shortlisting: The Principal Investigator's team will screen applications and only shortlisted candidates will be informed about the interview schedule.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are interviewed to assess subject knowledge and research aptitude. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Since this is a single-post project fellowship, competition may be limited compared to large-scale government exams — but your academic record and any relevant research experience will matter for shortlisting.

How to Apply

  1. Fill the online application form via the Google Form link given below.
  2. Enter your educational qualification details, NET/GATE status, and any relevant research experience accurately.
  3. Submit your application on or before 22 July 2026.
  4. Wait for a shortlisting update — only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the interview.
  5. For any queries about the position or the application process, email samandeep.kaur@nfsu.ac.in.
