CSMCRI Senior Project Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, is looking for a Senior Project Associate (Senior PAT) to join project HCP0024 (III), Work Package 7. The project hunts for useful chemicals in seaweeds and then uses forward genetic methods to find out which biological targets those compounds act on. This is a project-based, temporary engagement, not a regular CSIR post.

The role suits a natural-products chemist who is already comfortable at the lab bench with small molecules from natural sources. The institute will prefer people with hands-on experience in extraction, chromatographic separation, dereplication and structure elucidation using UV, IR, NMR and mass spectrometry. The notice opens the post both to master's degree holders with research experience and to doctorate holders, so check the eligibility section to see which route fits you.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure tied to the project: The post is purely temporary and ends with the project. It gives you no claim to an extension or to absorption at CSIR-CSMCRI.
• Six-year ceiling: All your project engagements at CSMCRI and other CSIR labs, taken together, cannot go beyond six years.
• Contract experience does not count: Contractual work experience will not be counted as experience. Your experience certificates must clearly show the duration, the place of work and the position you held.
• Grade conversion: If your university awards CGPA, SGPA or OGPA grades, convert them to a percentage using your own university's formula and attach the proof.
• Provisional vacancy: The number of posts may change, and the Director of CSIR-CSMCRI can cancel the advertisement fully or partly at any stage. The Director's decision on eligibility, applications and the interview is final.
• Later checks: If you are found not to meet the requirements at any stage, even after selection, your candidature will be cancelled.
• No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for the interview, which is held online.
