Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Senior Research Officer Recruitment 2026

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is a statutory body set up under the TRAI Act, 1997 to regulate telecom services, protect the interests of service providers and consumers, and ensure the orderly growth of the telecom sector. Since 2004, TRAI has also been responsible for regulating broadcasting and cable services in the country. To support this work, TRAI has issued a notification to fill the post of Senior Research Officer at its Regional Office in Bengaluru.

This is a deputation (foreign service) appointment, initially for a period of three years, and it is meant for experienced government or PSU officers with a background in engineering, IT, commerce, or accountancy. Only serving Central/State Government, PSU, or Statutory/Autonomous Body employees who meet the eligibility norms can apply — this opportunity is not open to fresh graduates or private-sector candidates. The appointment will be governed by the deputation instructions issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoP&T) vide OM dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time.

Who Can Apply?

• Eligibility (any one): You should be holding an analogous post in Level-10 (Rs. 56,100-1,77,500) on a regular basis in your parent cadre or department; OR have 4 years of regular service in Level-10 or equivalent; OR have 7 years of service as Section Officer in Level-8 (Rs. 47,600-1,51,100) plus 1 year of regular service in Level-10.
• Qualification (any one): Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Communications, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering (AICTE recognised); OR Bachelor's/Master's degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accountancy, Law, or Management (UGC recognised); OR membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) or the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India (ICMAI).
• Eligible organisations: Central Government, State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory and Autonomous Bodies, recognised universities, and recognised research institutions.
• Your parent department will need to forward your application, along with your service records and clearances, if you are shortlisted for this deputation post.

Age Limit

• Your age should not exceed 56 years on the last date of submission of applications (24 August 2026), as this is an appointment on deputation.

Salary

• The post carries Pay Level-11 (Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month) under the 7th Central Pay Commission — equivalent to the erstwhile revised Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay Rs. 6,600.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Government of India rules, in addition to your basic pay.
