OPSC is hiring 2 Assistant Professors in Radiation Oncology for Government Medical College & Hospitals (MCHs) in Odisha. OPSC Assistant Professor (Radiation Oncology) Recruitment 2026 — 2 Posts
The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released Advertisement No. 01 of 2026-27 on 13 April 2026, inviting online applications for 2 Group-A posts of Assistant Professor (Broad Speciality) in the discipline of Radiation Oncology. These posts are in the Odisha Medical Education Service cadre, for posting in Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals (MCHs) across Odisha, under the Health & Family Welfare Department. The posts are temporary but likely to be made permanent in future. Recruitment follows the Odisha Medical Education Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021.

Note: As per the Government Requisition, there are no vacancies reserved for SC, ST, SEBC, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, Sports Person or Women categories. The number of vacancies may change at the discretion of the State Government.
Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- Option 1: M.D. or M.S. in Radiotherapy/Radiation Oncology from an MCI/NMC-recognised institution, plus 1 year of post-PG Senior Residency in Radiation Oncology or Radiotherapy.
- Option 2: DNB in Radiotherapy/Radiation Oncology from an institution with 500 or more beds (NMC/MCI recognised), along with the MD/MS course, plus 1 year of post-PG Senior Residency in Radiation Oncology or Radiotherapy.
- Option 3: DNB in Radiotherapy/Radiation Oncology from an institution with less than 500 beds, plus 2 years of post-PG Senior Residency in Radiation Oncology or Radiotherapy at an NMC/MCI-recognised/permitted Medical College.
Other Conditions
- You must be a citizen of India.
- Before appointment, you must register under the Odisha Medical Registration Act, 1961.
- Doctors already appointed as Assistant Professor before 08.06.2017 (without SR experience, under old guidelines) do not need to meet the SR experience requirement again.
- Government servants (temporary or permanent) can apply if they meet the age and qualification criteria, and must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Head of Office at the time of document verification.
Age Limit
- You should be between 21 and 45 years of age as on 1 January 2026.
- You must not have been born earlier than 2 January 1981 or later than 1 January 2005.
- Age Relaxation:
- Women & Ex-Servicemen: upper age relaxed by 5 years (up to 50 years)
- Persons with Disabilities (40% or more permanent disability): upper age relaxed by 10 years (up to 55 years)
- In-service doctors on ad hoc/contractual basis under Government or Government undertakings: upper age relaxed by 5 years (up to 50 years)
- Only one category of age relaxation will apply — the most beneficial one.
Salary
- Selected candidates get a salary of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month under Academic Level-12 of the ORSP (MCT) Rules, 2019.
- Plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time.
- Candidates appointed on or after 1 January 2005 are covered under the Contributory Pension Scheme (NPS) — not the old pension scheme.

Selection Process
Selection is based on a Written Test as per the Odisha Medical Education Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021.
- Written Examination (200 marks): 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), OMR-based, to be completed in 3 hours. Each correct answer carries 1 mark. Wrong answers attract a negative marking of 0.25 marks. No marks for un-attempted questions. Qualifying marks will be decided by OPSC. Syllabus: MCI/NMC-approved MD/MS syllabus for Radiation Oncology.
- Document Verification: Candidates who secure qualifying marks are shortlisted at 2x the number of vacancies (minimum 5) per category for document verification.
Note: In case of a tie in marks, the candidate with higher MBBS marks ranks higher. If MBBS marks are also equal, the older candidate gets preference. Odisha residents get preference over candidates from other states when marks are equal. The merit list is valid for 1 year from the date of Government approval.

Responsibilities
- Teach Radiation Oncology to MBBS and postgraduate students as per the approved curriculum
- Conduct and supervise clinical work including patient care, treatment planning, and radiation therapy procedures
- Prepare lesson plans, study materials, case presentations, and examination papers
- Guide and mentor junior doctors, residents, and interns in clinical and academic matters
- Participate in departmental meetings, hospital committees, and administrative activities
- Conduct research, publish papers, and contribute to academic advancement in the field of Radiation Oncology
- Maintain accurate patient records, treatment logs, and departmental registers as required
