About This Job

Apply for the SRF vacancy in Berhampur University's ISRO project. First-class M.Sc eligible. Salary: Rs 37,000-41,000. Last date: 14 Nov 2026.

Berhampur University SRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Post Graduate Department of Marine Sciences at Berhampur University in Odisha needs a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for a research project funded by ISRO, Department of Space, Government of India. The project tracks how phytoplankton size classes change during repeated bloom events in the coastal waters of the north-western Bay of Bengal, using satellite data checked against samples from the water. Dr. Tamoghna Acharyya, Associate Professor in the department, is the principal investigator. This is a temporary, project-linked fellowship filled through a walk-in interview.

Expect a mix of boat work and screen work. Seasonal water sampling happens in the Rushikulya Estuary on country or local boats, and the rest of your time goes into radiometer operations, satellite data analysis, lab analysis of the samples and writing up the results. It suits a marine science, oceanography or environmental science postgraduate who already has a couple of years of research behind them and does not mind getting wet.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: Purely temporary for one year and co-terminus with the project; it can end earlier if the funds run out.
  • Fellowship rate: The higher rate is for NET/GATE or equivalent qualified candidates. Both rates depend on the funding agency's approval, available project funds and university rules.
  • Experience proof: Your two years of research experience after the PG degree must be backed by documents.
  • Who gets preference: Candidates with hands-on coastal field surveys, radiometer and water-quality instrument work, seawater lab analysis, or satellite ocean-colour data from OCM-3, MODIS, Sentinel-3 or PACE-OCI.
  • No job claim: Selected candidates cannot claim any regular or part-time appointment in the institute or outside during this period.
  • Interview costs: No TA/DA or any other allowance is paid for attending the interview.
  • Canvassing: Any form of canvassing will cancel your candidature.

Application Submission Notes

Put your updated resume, a cover letter and self-attested copies of your certificates, mark sheets and any experience certificates into a single PDF file and email it to ta.ms@buodisha.edu.in, addressed to Dr. Tamoghna Acharyya, P.I. (ISRO Project), P.G. Department of Marine Sciences, Berhampur University 760007, Odisha.

Only candidates who email their application in time can attend the walk-in interview, which is held in the Department of Marine Sciences on 16 November 2026 at 11:00 am. Carry your original certificates, photos and copies of any publications or awards on the day.
