About This Job

NAU Young Professional-II Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Department of Fruit Science at ASPEE College of Horticulture, Navsari Agricultural University (NAU) is hiring a Young Professional-II (YP-II) for its research project "Development of DUS Test Guidelines for Sapota (Achras zapota L.)". The project is funded by the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Authority (PPVFRA), New Delhi, and it builds the Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability (DUS) test rules that new sapota (chikoo) varieties are checked against. This is a temporary, project-linked engagement, not a regular university post. If you hold a postgraduate degree in Fruit Science and want hands-on experience in variety testing, this walk-in is worth your time.

The work is based at the college campus in Navsari, Gujarat. You will spend your time on field surveys, DUS characterization and data analysis for sapota, so a good feel for fruit crops and their agronomy will help you settle in quickly.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: The post lasts 11 months from joining, or until the grant runs out or the project ends, whichever comes first. NAU says there is no re-employment once the project closes.
  • Extension: The engagement may be extended only if funds are available and your performance is satisfactory.
  • Notice period: NAU can end the engagement for administrative reasons with one week's notice, and you can also leave by giving one week's notice.
  • No job claim: When the contract ends, you get no right to any further job or engagement at NAU.
  • Recognised degree: Your degree programme must be from an ICAR or UGC recognised university or institute.
  • Preference: NET-qualified candidates get preference, and research experience through a fellowship, associateship or training adds weight.
  • Travel: No TA or DA is paid for attending the interview.
  • Employed candidates: If you already work somewhere, carry a no-objection certificate from your employer and your original experience certificate to the interview.
  • Gujarati: The application form asks whether you know Gujarati (HSC or SSC with Gujarati as a subject). Attach proof if you have it.
  • Canvassing: Any form of canvassing cancels your candidature.

Application Submission Notes

Download the application form from www.nau.in (Career & Jobs), fill it in and post it with self-attested copies of your certificates to The Principal, ASPEE College of Horticulture, Navsari Agricultural University, Eru Char Rasta, Dandi Road, Navsari – 396450, Gujarat. Write "Application for the post of YP-II DUS Sapota Project" on the envelope.

  • Your form must reach the college before office hours end on the closing day. Postal delays are at your own risk.
