The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), one of India's top technical institutes under the Ministry of Education, has released advertisement no. P1/Adhoc/Recr/2026-27 dated 26 March 2026. This is a great opportunity if you have a background in media, communications, and journalism and want to work at a premier NIT in Kerala. The contract is for 1 year, extendable by 1 more year based on your performance.

Essential Qualification

• First Class Degree in Communicative English / English Literature / English with Copy Editing from a recognized university

Desirable Qualification

• Diploma in Journalism or Certificate course offered by Press Academy

Essential Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience in media houses or organizations of repute
• Experience in preparing reports and press communication
• Experience in handling social media platforms
• Proficiency in English and Malayalam languages

Skills You Need

• Mastery in English, Malayalam, and Hindi (Hindi is preferable, not mandatory)
• Excellent writing, oral presentation, and communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience in video and photo editing
• Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
• Expertise in brand building and institutional outreach
• Experience in handling and promoting YouTube channels

Salary

• Consolidated monthly salary: Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000

• The contract is for 1 year, extendable by 1 more year based on performance

• Coordinate the development, drafting, and editing of news releases, media advisories, and announcements for distribution to the media
• Handle media queries as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and ensure positive projection of the institute
• Manage the institute's official blog and social media handles with consistent branding
• Maintain records of media coverage including photo and video assets and track analytics
• Prepare regular articles on institute academics, research, programs, facilities, and industry collaborations
• Work on video and photo editing for institute communications and YouTube channel management
• Follow brand guidelines and review all content before publishing on the institute website
• Assist in creating print materials such as brochures, posters, and flyers
