Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) Bhopal, an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, has released three linked advertisements inviting online applications for 54 faculty posts across 11 engineering, science, architecture and humanities departments. The recruitment covers Assistant Professor Grade-II (on contract), Assistant Professor Grade-I, Associate Professor and Professor positions, with vacancies reserved for UR, SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS and PwBD candidates as per Government of India norms. Who Can Apply?

Assistant Professor Grade-II (Level 10, Contract Basis):

• You need a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with first class (60% or 6.5/10 CGPA) in your preceding degrees. No post-PhD experience is required.

Assistant Professor Grade-I (Level 12):

• You need a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline plus 1 year of post-PhD teaching or research experience in an institution of repute or industry.

Associate Professor (Level 13A2):

• You need a Ph.D. with 6 years of experience after Ph.D. (including at least 3 years as Assistant Professor), or 9 years of total working experience with the same conditions.

Professor (Level 14A):

• You need a Ph.D. with 10 years of experience after Ph.D. (or 13 years total working experience), including specified years at Associate Professor level.

Note for Architecture and Planning:

• The qualification differs for this department — Master's degree with professional experience is accepted at Level 10, and a Ph.D. is required at Level 12.

Existing MANIT faculty can apply for higher posts in their own department irrespective of specialisation or advertised vacancy.

Age Limit

• There is no specific upper age limit — age of superannuation and reservation will follow Government of India norms as applicable to NITs.

Salary

• Assistant Professor Grade-II: Level 10 of the 7th CPC Academic Pay Matrix (Contract Basis)
• Assistant Professor Grade-I: Level 12
• Associate Professor: Level 13A2
• Professor: Level 14A
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Government of India rules.

Application Fee

• UR / OBC (NCL) / EWS (within India): Rs. 1,000 application fee + Rs. 500 processing charge = Rs. 1,500
• SC / ST / PwBD / Women (within India): No application fee, only Rs. 500 processing charge
• UR / OBC (NCL) / EWS (applying from abroad): Rs. 4,800 + Rs. 960 processing charge = Rs. 5,760
• SC / ST / PwBD (applying from abroad): No application fee, only Rs. 960 processing charge

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 3 stages:

1. Screening on Credit Points: Applications are shortlisted based on academic credit points (projects, patents, publications, books) as per NIT recruitment rules, at a ratio of 1:6 to 1:12 per post.
2. Presentation: Shortlisted candidates give a 10-minute research presentation and a teaching-topic presentation, followed by questions. Qualifying marks are 50% for UR, 45% for OBC (NCL)/EWS, 40% for SC/ST and 35% for PwBD.
3. Personal Interaction/Interview: Candidates recommended after the presentation appear for a final interview. You need at least 60% (UR), 54% (OBC-NCL/EWS), 50% (SC/ST) or 45% (PwBD) to make the final merit list.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the presentation/interview, and it is mandatory to appear in person (video conferencing is allowed only for candidates residing abroad, at their own risk).
