About This Job

NCERT has released notification for 117 Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Librarian posts. Candidates with Ph.D., Master's degree and NET qualification can apply online. Posts are available in New Delhi, Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru and Shillong. Last date to apply is 06 March 2026. Salary ranges from Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month.

NCERT Academic Recruitment 2026 - 117 Posts

National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released Advt. No. F.1-1/2025/R-I (Advt.177/2026) for filling 117 academic posts. These posts include Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Deputy Librarian and Assistant Librarian positions.

NCERT is India’s top organisation for school education research and training. This is a great chance for qualified teaching and research professionals to join a Central Government organisation. The original deadline was 20 February 2026, but it has been extended to 06 March 2026.

Post-wise Vacancy Details

  • Professor: 22 posts (Level 14)
  • Associate Professor: 52 posts (Level 13A)
  • Assistant Professor: 40 posts (Level 10)
  • Deputy Librarian: 1 post
  • Assistant Librarian: 2 posts

Posts are spread across 53 departments and subjects covering multiple disciplines.

Who Can Apply?

For Professor:

  • Ph.D. in the concerned subject
  • At least 10 years of teaching or research experience
  • Minimum 10 research publications
  • Research score of at least 120

For Associate Professor:

  • Ph.D. in the concerned subject
  • Master’s degree with at least 55% marks
  • At least 8 years of experience in teaching or research
  • Minimum 7 research publications
  • Research score of at least 75

For Assistant Professor:

  • Master’s degree with at least 55% marks
  • NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D. as per UGC norms

For Deputy Librarian:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science with at least 55% marks
  • 8 years of experience in a library
  • Ph.D. in Library Science or related field

For Assistant Librarian:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science with at least 55% marks
  • NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D. in Library Science

Salary Details

  • Professor: Level 14 - Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month
  • Associate Professor: Level 13A - Rs. 1,31,400 to Rs. 2,04,700 per month
  • Assistant Professor: Level 10 - Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in the assigned subject area and publish findings in recognised journals
  • Develop curriculum, textbooks and learning materials for school education across India
  • Guide and mentor junior faculty members and research scholars
  • Teach and train teachers through workshops, seminars and training programmes
  • Carry out educational surveys and studies as assigned by NCERT
  • Help in designing national-level educational policies and frameworks
  • Take part in academic meetings, conferences and review committees
  • Support the development of digital learning resources and e-content
  • Handle administrative duties related to the department as assigned

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Master's degree with at least 55% marks. NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D. required for Assistant Professor and Assistant Librarian posts. Ph.D. mandatory for Professor, Associate Professor and Deputy Librarian posts.

Preferred Qualification

Ph.D. in the concerned subject, strong research publications record, experience in curriculum development and educational research

Freshers can apply

Professor: 10 years of teaching/research experience with 10 publications and research score of 120. Deputy Librarian: 8 years of library experience with Ph.D.

Exam Pattern

Selection Process for NCERT Recruitment 2026

There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection is based on academic merit and interview.

Stage 1: Shortlisting Based on Academic Score

NCERT will shortlist candidates based on their academic score. The academic score is calculated using:

  • Academic qualifications (degrees, percentage/CGPA)
  • Research publications in UGC-listed journals
  • Research score as per UGC norms
  • Teaching and research experience
  • Awards, fellowships and other academic achievements

Only candidates who meet the minimum research score and publication criteria will be called for the interview.

Research Score Requirements

  • Professor: Minimum research score of 120 with at least 10 publications
  • Associate Professor: Minimum research score of 75 with at least 7 publications

Stage 2: Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The interview panel will check your:
