About This Job

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is hiring 2 Programmers (IT/Software) at its Headquarters in Delhi. The post carries Pay Level-8 (Rs. 47,600 to Rs. 1,51,100) and is filled 100% by deputation including short term contract (ISTC). This is an open vacancy circular, so applications are accepted on a continuous basis every month until the posts are filled.

NCB is India's apex drug law enforcement agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Who Can Apply?

You must be an officer serving under the Central Government, State Government, Union Territory, Recognized Research Institute, PSU, Statutory body or Autonomous Organization.

  • Service condition: Holding analogous post on regular basis in parent cadre, OR with 2 years regular service in Level-7 of the pay matrix or equivalent.
  • Essential qualification: Master's Degree or M.Tech in Computer Application or Computer Science from a recognized University/Institute, OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering / Computer Science / Computer Technology / Computer Science Engineering / Information Technology / Electronics / Electronics and Communication Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
  • Essential experience: Minimum 2 years' experience in application programming, SQL, Web development and Python.
  • Desirable: Two years' post-qualification experience in electronic data processing, programming, information technology and networking.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age for appointment by deputation: 56 years as on the last date of receipt of applications.
  • Period of deputation (including deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately before) ordinarily not to exceed 3 years.

Salary

  • Pay Level-8 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix
  • Pay range: Rs. 47,600 - Rs. 1,51,100 per month
  • Pre-revised: PB-2 Rs. 9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay Rs. 4,800
  • Plus Dearness Allowance, HRA, Deputation (duty) Allowance and other admissible allowances as per government rules

Selection Process

  1. Screening of applications received through proper channel against eligibility criteria
  2. Shortlisting by the Selection Committee based on qualification, experience and APAR grading
  3. Selection Committee assessment — no written examination
  4. Cadre clearance, vigilance clearance and integrity certificate verification

Complete applications received by the last day of every month are considered for selection at the end of that month.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software applications for NCB's operational and administrative needs
  • Handle database management and SQL queries for NCB information systems
  • Build and support web applications and internal portals
  • Write, test and debug Python code for automation and data processing
  • Manage electronic data processing and ensure data integrity
  • Support networking and IT infrastructure at NCB Headquarters
  • Assist in rolling out new IT projects and digital initiatives
  • Prepare technical documentation and user manuals

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering / Computer Science / Computer Technology / IT / Electronics / ECE, OR Master's Degree / M.Tech in Computer Application or Computer Science from a recognized University/Institute

Preferred Qualification

Master's Degree or M.Tech in Computer Application / Computer Science
